no matter how much she tossed around on the bed sleep was coming around. After trying for nearly an hour, Maya got out of bed stood near her bedroom window and opened the window.
moonlight was dancing across the floor of the night giving it an ethereal look. it was chilly and the winds were howling. it seems the gods know what she is going through right now. as if they were also representing their side of restlessness. when chilled wind touched her skin, goosebumps quickly took form, however, she did not want to move away from the window. as if something was calling her.
Her window was positioned so that she could see the backyard and also some of the houses lining the path of the village. not a single sound could be seen or soul heard in her vision. every house's lights were out. the whole village was asleep.
her gaze was not focused on something particular just going over the surface. this was her last day at her village, well just a few hours before she got married and moved to Riverton.
it is hard. Her thoughts were interrupted when she noticed movement in the moonlit shadows.
"What was that?" it came out barely above a whisper as if she did not want to attract attention of whatever it was lurking in the shadows. it moved again.
Then she saw it. A wolf. His fur was dark black nearly blending with the shadows. "that's why I couldn't point it out"
The wolf slowly came out of the shadows moving towards her backyard. Her throat went dry at the sight. the wolf was bigger, even his shadow was larger.
Magnificent.
that was the only word which came into her mind.
When Wolf was about to cross the wooden fences around her backyard she came out of her trance state and stood rigid. As if reading her thoughts, it also stopped like a statue. For a very long time, neither of them moved. As if they were playing a game who would move first?
slowly she moved her one finger and rested on the window.
Seeing her movement he also moved his one big paw forward. seeing the movement she smiled involuntarily, suddenly feeling funny.
strange but she was not afraid to be approached by a wild animal. She knows in her heart it won't hurt her.
her giggling echoed through the night and the wolf's ear perked up and his tail wagged quickly from side to side. showing, it is also happy. maybe it is separated from its family. however, it is not some baby wolf but an adult. maybe he is injured that is why it is lurking in the village.
it was nearly a week ago when she heard talk of the wolf in the village. she heard women talk about it only a few times. she did not get the chance to talk to them because of the upcoming wedding.
she quickly scanned for any injury or if it limping or something. but its tongue was out and his tail was wagging continuously which means it's not ok.
"Why would a healthy animal stick its tongue out", she asked herself and concluded that it was thirsty.
"do you want water?" she asked involuntarily and then felt stupid. "talking to an animal. I have gone mad" muttering looking at him she closed the window and laid down on her bed.
as soon as she laid down loud howling came from outside. she sat abruptly put the hand over her chest and took deep breaths.
"Surely you are not upset that I do not play your games," she said in disbelief looking over her window. another howl was sounded, this time closer to the window, as if answering her statement.
"go away and do not make a sound " she whispered shouted. she has no idea why is she even talking to the animal. but she did not want it to get caught and killed by villagers. they would surely kill it if caught.
this time low- pitched whining came and what sounded like thumping and scratching on the wooden window. She quickly got out of bed moved toward the window and opened the only one shutter.
there it was, paws on the window base, snout angled towards her, tongue out and tail wiggling rapidly. From this angle, she could see his eyes which were deep green. like forest.
those eyes reminded her of someone.
Damian.
"what do you want? are you thirsty?.....", when it did nothing but watch her with those eyes, she said "Wait let me go and bring water for you"
if it wanted to come inside and eat her, there was nothing she could have done. the window is big and it could easily overpower her and come through it. if it wanted to eat her, it would have done it by now. but it did not, it means it does not want to.
she turned around to move and it whined and moved closer to her. looking at her like it could see through her. his snout closer to her hand which was on the shutter. it was cold. it was the first she had seen a wolf this close and touched one or one had touched her.
" I am going to fetch you some water, wait for me here. do you understand?" she asked moving her fingers river its snout. yes, cold and wet. wolf moved its head to get more of her touch. it closes its eyes and purr loudly.
touching made her shiver and sudden heat recoiled in her stomach. She quickly retracted her hand back. that was the same heat she felt with Damian the other day. it seems now everything in the world is turning her on as she has unlocked this new realm of pleasure.
she can feel the wetness between her thighs. Wolf opened its eyes and moved to smell her closer and she stood still while it dragged its wet and cold snout along her skin. from her neck to her collarbone and then going between her bosom to her navel and licked her there.
she flinched very badly feeling his rough tongue. and even more embarrassed when her desire took override and her heart started beating rapidly.
Now it is purring so loudly that the howling of the wind is silent in front of it. moving his head lower clearly indicating where was its next target. she quickly moved back and moved its head to the other side.
quickly darted from her window and turned to look at it, to see if it had followed her. it was still there looking at her, then she allowed herself to leave the room
"I have gone mad, what is happening to me?" quickly closed her room and entered the veranda to go to the kitchen as quickly as possible. even though that animal has not followed her but still it is an animal.
after fetching the water from so not-so-not-used pot she went to her room but, as soon as she entered her room she heard the front main door of the house opening and closing.
hiding behind the door she saw her brother Joga entering the veranda. so many questions roared in her head. "why is he coming this late? but he was at home already, where is he coming from?" She saw him entering his room in the far corner of the veranda.
"It's good that I came out of the kitchen early, or he would have woken up the whole house over my actions". she turned but the wolf was not there.
she quickly searched under her bed, but it was nowhere. she does not know why? but she felt sad over its departure. looking through the window, with a pot filled with water in her hand "Where did you go?"
moonlight was still very prominent. it was a full moon night. it was a serene sight, so relaxing that no matter what everyone was going through they would stop and admire its beauty. however, all she felt was disappointment.
placing the pot on the ground she closed the window and laid down. soon she drifted away.
