Chapter 52: Absolute Power

Tian Feng and his team immediately spotted Jiang Kai.

Taking advantage of the fact that Jiang Kai hadn't yet entered the safety zone, the five quickly surrounded him.

"What a stroke of luck. We've been searching high and low, only to find you here without much effort," Tian Feng narrowed his eyes slightly. "Heaven does not forsake the persistent. Finally, we've caught you."

Jiang Kai frowned, looking at the five people in surprise.

They looked no different from other teams in the field—dirty faces, armor either broken or filthy. Two of them had bandages wrapped around their bodies, wounds clearly not fully healed.

Yet the moment they saw Jiang Kai, their spirits lifted. Their eyes blazed, as if they were ready to burst into flames.

"Black Tortoise Guild…" Jiang Kai frowned slightly. "Did Huang Da send you?"

Tian Feng snorted coldly. "You already know the answer."

Jiang Kai's face darkened. "What do you want?"

"What do we want? What do you think?" Bai Lingzhi said, pulling out a long blade from his waist. "Do you need me to remind you of the 'good deeds' you've done?"

"Anyone who crosses Black Tortoise Guild meets only one end."

Jiang Kai squinted slightly.

The safety zone was only a few hundred meters away, but the military personnel stationed there wouldn't leave their posts unless there was a beast attack.

In other words, if a fight broke out here, no one would interfere.

"Jiang Kai, I must admit, you're lucky. You managed to evade us for ten days. But unfortunately, your luck ends here," Liu Yan sneered. "Remember this: unless you hide in the safety zone forever, every time you log in, we'll kill you."

Qin Yong, holding a massive metal spiked club over a meter long, grinned wickedly at Jiang Kai. "Don't blame us. Blame yourself for offending someone you shouldn't have."

At that moment, Jiang Kai suddenly asked a strange question.

"Are you really here to hunt me down?" he asked, his puzzled gaze sweeping over the group.

His question hit a sore spot. The Falcon Team had been relentlessly pursued by armored monitor lizards in the King's Valley, engaged in nonstop battles, and drained by days of chasing and fighting.

Now, they no longer bore the majestic aura they had when first entering the valley. Instead, they resembled any other exhausted, faltering team.

Tian Feng's face darkened. "You ask too many questions. All you need to know is that you're about to die right outside the safety zone."

A fight right outside the safety zone was rare, especially involving the Falcon Team from Black Tortoise. This immediately drew a crowd.

Even people within the safety zone started heading over.

"It's really them! The Falcon Team—they're here."

"They're about to kill that young man… Jiang Kai, huh? That name sounds familiar."

"You don't know Jiang Kai? He was first in this year's rookie trials. On the day of the awards ceremony, he killed Huang Wei, who ranked fourth. Black Tortoise Guild has already issued a notice: any guild that takes in Jiang Kai will be considered their enemy."

"That's insane! Killing the fourth ranker on the spot? This guy's ruthless."

"Ruthless but reckless. Offending Black Tortoise Guild? Now he's guildless and teamless. In Destiny's Calling, he's got no place to survive and is being hunted by Falcon Team. How's he supposed to end well?"

Among the crowd were the seven members of the Sky Sword Team.

When the Falcon Team entered the Ghost Banshee's territory, Sky Sword had given up chasing them and started hunting black apes in the area instead.

But after a few days, Falcon Team had suddenly returned.

Sky Sword's supplies were running low too, so they decided to follow Falcon Team back.

Who could have guessed that just as they were about to enter the safety zone, Falcon Team would find him?

Shan Shan's eyes widened as she stared at Jiang Kai. "That's him? Jiang Kai? A rookie? I don't believe it. No way!"

Du Lei looked grim. "I've heard of Jiang Kai. Rumor has it he offended Black Tortoise Guild. No wonder they're hunting him down. But how could a rookie be so strong?"

Wu Gang murmured, "He soloed a Great Strength Black Ape right after completing the rookie trials. I've been in Destiny's Calling for four years, seen thousands of rookies, and I've never encountered someone this terrifying."

The mysterious figure they'd been tracking was confirmed at last. But the truth was almost too much to accept.

He wasn't some enigmatic expert. He was Jiang Kai, this year's top rookie.

The crowd grew larger, and Tian Feng seemed pleased by the attention.

This was the perfect chance to make an example of Jiang Kai, showing everyone the price of defying Black Tortoise Guild.

"Jiang Kai, no matter how clever you are, in the face of absolute power, you're nothing but a joke."

"Enough talk. Take him down!" Tian Feng barked.

At his command, everyone except Xu Xiaoxiao—Tian Feng, Bai Lingzhi, Qin Yong, and Liu Yan—charged at Jiang Kai.

As the four rushed toward him, nine darts suddenly appeared in Jiang Kai's hands.

Flames erupted around the darts, engulfing them in bright red fire.

"Next time, tell Huang Da to send someone stronger if he wants me dead." Jiang Kai shouted before flinging the darts forward.

The fiery darts streaked through the air, leaving blazing trails as they shot toward Tian Feng.

"You've got elemental attacks? Interesting. But darts? You must be joking." Tian Feng sneered, raising his shield. "Dragonbone Black Iron Shield."

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!...

Five consecutive metallic clangs rang out.

"Those fancy tricks won't work." Bai Lingzhi yelled, swinging his blade at Jiang Kai's face.

Huang Da had specifically ordered them to disfigure Jiang Kai in the most humiliating way possible.

"Evaluate Bai Lingzhi's stats. This guy's agility is 74. Including equipment bonuses, his level should be around 20." Shan Shan exclaimed.

"These five maxed out their first-tier classes when Falcon Team was formed. They're incredibly strong." Wu Gang said, feeling the vast gap between them.

"Black Tortoise Guild must really hate Jiang Kai to send a team this powerful after him." Du Lei added, his eyes glued to the fight.

Jiang Kai's darts were all blocked, and the flames barely scorched the attackers' defenses.

"This flame attack is pathetic," someone muttered.

"No, it's not the flames. It's Tian Feng's shield," another corrected. "But either way, it doesn't matter. He's doomed."

Just as everyone thought Jiang Kai was finished, a sixth clang echoed from Tian Feng's shield.

Unlike before, this time, a massive force surged through the shield, sending Tian Feng flying.

Before he could react, flames engulfed him.

Simultaneously, the other three attackers burst into flames, their agonized screams piercing the air.

The intense heat forced the crowd to retreat.

In an instant, all that remained around Jiang Kai was a sea of ash.
