Chapter 112: The Border Erupts

The western frontier of the kingdom stretched endlessly before Damien as he stood atop a rocky outcrop, the wind tugging at his cloak. Below, his soldiers were assembling, their armor glinting in the pale morning light. The urgency in the messenger's warning had brought them here—reports of coordinated raids and an unsettling presence of foreign mercenaries demanded immediate action.

Damien's steel-gray eyes scanned the horizon, lingering on the dark line of forest that marked the border. He could feel the tension among his troops, a charged silence as they prepared for the confrontation that lay ahead.

Amara approached, her sharp blue eyes glinting as she adjusted the straps of her light armor. "Scouts report movement just beyond the tree line," she said. "Could be raiders, could be something bigger. Either way, they're not trying very hard to hide."

"They want us to see them," Damien said, his tone cold. "They're testing our resolve."
