Chapter 173: The Unseen War

The ruins of the cathedral stood silent behind them, the echoes of their battle fading into the cold night air. Smoke curled from the distant rooftops, embers still glowing in the aftermath of the attack on Winter's Crown.

But Damien barely saw it.

His steel-gray eyes were locked on the blackened blade in his grip. Whole again. But changed.

It had sealed the entity inside Varcen. It had won.

But the war wasn't over.

Varcen's words rang in his mind:

The seals were never built to last.

They were built to break.

And now, something else was waking up.

Dante let out a sharp breath, rubbing the back of his neck. "So, let's take stock, shall we?" He gestured toward the ruined city. "We stopped one nightmare, only to find out there are more. The thing inside Varcen wasn't the real enemy—just a piece of something bigger."

His expression darkened. "And now, we have no idea where the next piece is."
