Chapter 117: The Final Letter

The Lookout

Kami wore his usual white robe with the character "God" emblazoned on it, along with a dark blue-black cloak. His eyes were closed, and he sat cross-legged, floating in mid-air, with the God Staff resting on his legs. He was deep in contemplation, practicing in his unique way. Though kami had no memory of his home planet, the knowledge was deeply ingrained in his bloodline, much like the Dragon Balls.

After the calamity that nearly destroyed the human world, kami was deeply moved and realized the need to be diligent in his training. Before this, he believed that with his power, he was one of the strongest, even on such a vast planet like Earth.

But after witnessing the strength of Mitsurugi, as well as the many powerful beings from the underworld and the universe that were mentioned by the former Gods of Earth, after encountering the terrifying demons from the Demon Realm that were tied to Earth, and after witnessing Mu Taro's unparalleled power...

His view of the world had been completely shaken.

In the past, he had been like a frog in a well.

Mr. Popo stepped out of the darkness within the Lookout palace, just as Taro, sitting on the steps, stood up. Taro, sensing Mr. Popo's presence behind him, folded the stack of papers in his hand and carefully tucked them into his chest.

Letting out a soft breath, Taro stood and glanced upward at the temple. He could feel an invisible barrier surrounding the place.

This was a special, invisible barrier that enveloped the space surrounding the hemispherical Temple of Earth. With this barrier in place, no mortal could approach or use any methods to probe the temple without the current Kami permission. At the same time, this barrier allowed those within the temple to look down upon the world below, from the edges of the temple.

The barrier was exquisitely designed, and after learning many barrier magic techniques from the Holy Mage, Taro could faintly detect its intricacies. He couldn't help but marvel at its craftsmanship. However, it was impossible to know which Kami had set up this barrier; it was likely lost to history. The history of Earth was long and ancient, and in the distant past, there may have been true superhuman experts who left their mark.

Taro walked to the edge of the temple and gazed down at the world below. The barrier around the temple allowed his sight to penetrate through the thick clouds. With a slight focus of his energy, he quickly located the position of the Phoenix.

As his vision zoomed in, he softly muttered, "Hmm."

kami, who was meditating cross-legged in mid-air, slowly opened his eyes. His gaze was sharp but calm, and after a breath, he grasped his staff and floated down to Taro's side. "What is it?" he asked.

kami followed Taro's gaze down to Earth and saw, to his surprise, the crimson Phoenix standing on a small, desolate path. In front of it, a mortal was kneeling, speaking and gesturing as if trying to convey something.

"The seventh one, I assume?" kami noted the Dragon Ball in the Phoenix's talons. As for the mortal, he showed no interest. If there was any connection, it would only be with the Phoenix and Taro.

"Hmm." Taro nodded slightly and said in a soft voice, "Now that all seven Dragon Balls are gathered… I'll head down now."

kami continued to look down at the mortal realm, nodding in acknowledgment. By the time he turned, Taro had already vanished.

"Kami, what about those who have already been destroyed? Can they be revived?" Mr. Popo, who had approached from behind, asked with confusion.

With Earth's current technology, there were no universal capsules or any of Bulma's advanced technology. Mr. Popo was unsure whether it was possible to preserve bodies for revival without causing harm. Even if it were possible, it certainly wouldn't be something an ordinary person could achieve, right?

"Shenron is not without compassion…" kami responded slowly, not turning around. Leaning on his staff, he calmly gazed out at the world below. "Yes, everyone can be revived."

There's that time, when Porunga had resurrected Krillin by restoring his destroyed body. After Earth was destroyed by Majin Buu, the Dragon had revived everyone without mentioning any limitations regarding their bodies. It was clear that even the Dragon understood that true resurrection for humans involved not only the revival of their spirits but also the restoration and vitality of their physical forms.

In Taro's sight, his figure had already appeared before the Phoenix and the mortal man.

"Master, if you can read this letter, I should have already passed from this world. It brings me shame, as your disciple, to not be able to care for you in your later years, and instead, I must write a farewell letter to you. Master, am I really so useless? Yumeko passed away before me, and I feel that my own days are numbered. After much contemplation, I have finally written this letter, hoping that one day, when you return, you will see it…"

...

"All these years, my skills have remained stagnant. There's a barrier before me, and though I can feel its presence, I cannot break through. I will never break through. As I grow, my strength declines, and my abilities regress. I am no longer what I once was…"

...

"Time is like a blade, cutting deeply into me. I hate it, but the years are merciless, leaving me helpless. I am unable to achieve even a fraction of your greatness, Master. I have failed to stay by your side and serve you, and I am certain I have disappointed you…"

...

"My life's turning point came when I learned martial arts, when I was able to change my destiny, all thanks to your kindness. Though I am not talented in the martial arts, I have always worked diligently for the Muten School you established and entrusted to me. Over the years, I've worked hard and spread the school's name far and wide. Master, your and Master Mutaito's names are well-known. When people talk about the Muten School, they always speak of it with admiration…"

...

"There are three greatest regrets in my life. First, I was unable to have a son or daughter with Yumeko, to continue your bloodline. I often think of this, and my heart aches with regret, for failing you and my late father. Second, I could not remain by your side to serve you, and I couldn't even hear from you. Third, as a martial artist, I did not walk far enough on the path of martial arts. Now, I can only look back at the scenery I imagined while missing your figure. I lament my shallow talents and the shortness of time…"

...

"At this point, tears make it hard to write. There are so many things I want to say, so many emotions, but words fail me… Master, where are you now? Are you in good health? Yu and I… we miss you so much!"

...

"——Your disciple of the Muten School, Aragon, respectfully submits this farewell letter."

...

"…What did you just say?" Taro snapped out of his thoughts and looked at the man kneeling before him, still bowing. The Phoenix walked over, picked up the Dragon Ball from its talons, and handed it to Taro.

"Please, Master Mu, accept me as your disciple!" The man kept bowing, his forehead already bloodied and battered from the numerous times he had struck the ground.
