Chapter 293: You Have No Way Out!
As Isshiki absorbed Hyuga Fuji's chakra to prevent resistance while embedding his Kāma, he suddenly felt an eerie silence surrounding him.
Although the battle had long driven away any life in the river, and fighting continued above the surface, there was no sound here at all.
Recalling a similar experience from before, Isshiki's expression darkened. Chakra erupted from him, and a sound like shattering glass echoed around him.
A reality-altering genjutsu…
This power—it belonged to that Akatsuki member!
"The Rinnegan you stole is highly sought after by many," Hyuga Fuji said with a faint, weakened smile. "I leaked just a little information, and they came. Your body's taken a serious hit—how long can a mere shadow hold out?"
Isshiki turned his gaze to Hyuga Fuji, his Byakugan noticing that Fuji was attempting to gather chakra to break the seal. His expression darkened momentarily before softening into a sly smile.
"Unfortunately for you, they're too late."
Hyuga Fuji had proven far more cautious than Isshiki anticipated, secretly alerting the Akatsuki.
Given the damage to his main body, Isshiki couldn't afford to deal with the Akatsuki right now. The Limbo shadow wouldn't truly die, but after a certain duration, it would enter a cooldown period akin to Kamui's intangibility, leaving him vulnerable. In his current state, such a window of weakness would be fatal.
The only silver lining was that Hyuga Fuji wasn't aligned with the Akatsuki. If they were allies, Isshiki might have lost his chance entirely.
Determined not to waste any more time, Isshiki decided to act before Hyuga Fuji's reinforcements could intervene. To secure the process of transferring his Kāma without interruption, he unleashed his full power. The space around them distorted, and in an instant, the two disappeared from the river, reappearing in Isshiki's personal dimensional space.
"You're cautious, but you're one move too late. No one can enter my dimensional space. You have no escape—become my vessel willingly!"
As the black Kāma markings snaked across Hyuga Fuji's body like venomous serpents, Isshiki's suppressed joy erupted into uncontrollable laughter.
This wasn't a White Kāma. It was a Black Kāma, a perfect vessel to carry his soul!
Hyuga Fuji's body was leagues beyond Jigen's—it could fully contain his power!
With this body, he'd no longer have to worry about a vessel's lifespan.
Everything was falling into place perfectly.
But as Isshiki laughed, he suddenly sensed something off.
Cold.
Hyuga Fuji's gaze was icy, devoid of despair. Instead, upon entering this sealed dimension, Fuji's eyes glimmered with an unprecedented light.
Why…
Snap!
A hand silently emerged from Isshiki's left, grabbing his wrist.
At the same time, Hyuga Fuji's figure in front of him began to fade, as if it had never been there. The black chakra rods embedded in Fuji's body fell harmlessly to the ground.
Isshiki froze. He felt his wrist firmly locked in place. Slowly turning, he met a pair of familiar, cold eyes. Within Hyuga Fuji's Tenseigan, he caught a fleeting glimpse of the Sharingan, sending a chill down his spine.
Izanagi?
Having lived for millennia in the ninja world, Isshiki was practically a living history book. He knew more about the ninja world than most of its inhabitants. He was well aware of Izanagi, the technique that once caused a stir and gave the Uchiha dominance on the battlefield.
But he hadn't expected Hyuga Fuji to rewrite his own ocular techniques, embedding not one but two Izanagi within himself.
Two. Isshiki had no doubt there was another. After all, the Uchiha Clan wasn't extinct, and three-tomoe Sharingan weren't exactly rare.
Fuji's level of precaution against him was staggering—he had prepared two revival techniques in advance?!
Hyuga Fuji didn't care about Isshiki's internal turmoil. While Isshiki reeled from the sudden twist, Fuji's other hand pressed firmly against Isshiki's chest.
As Hyuga Fuji's chakra surged, Isshiki's pupils constricted. The Kāma's energy flared violently, attempting to break free of Fuji's grip. Isshiki's free hand clenched into a fist and lashed out with incredible speed.
But it was too late.
The Tenseigan's power erupted. A chakra orb teeming with immense energy separated from Isshiki's body, while Fuji dodged the incoming punch with a low sidestep.
Leaning forward, Fuji drove his elbow into Isshiki's face, sending him staggering back dozens of meters.
Holding his now-distorted face, Isshiki glared ahead, his expression dark.
Hyuga Fuji stood calmly, holding the orb of chakra he had extracted. Without hesitation, he began refining it.
That orb contained a quarter of Isshiki's chakra. Including the energy expended during the Kāma transfer process, Isshiki had now lost half of his total power!
Using the extracted chakra to restore himself, Fuji glanced at his arm, now covered in black Kāma markings. He raised an eyebrow. "As I thought, Izanagi can't remove it."
Izanagi could rewrite reality, turning unfavorable outcomes into illusions and leaving only beneficial ones intact. But it couldn't reverse time.
The Kāma, an imprint of Otsutsuki data embedded in its host, had become part of Fuji's body the moment it was planted. Izanagi couldn't erase it.
However, Fuji hadn't intended to erase it anyway. To him, it was the ultimate research material.
Channeling the Kāma's chakra, the black markings on Fuji's body gradually faded, condensing into a diamond-shaped seal above his brow.
Seeing Fuji not only refusing to remove the Kāma but actively experimenting with it, Isshiki's suspicions were confirmed. His face darkened as he spoke.
"You… you know about us? You understand the Kāma?"
Fuji's careful actions and calculated counterattacks made it clear: he was fully aware of Isshiki's power, abilities, and even his identity.
But how was that possible?
No one from the Dragon Vein expedition knew Isshiki's identity. If they had, the Land of Lightning wouldn't have approached him so brazenly. Outside of Kaguya, no one in the ninja world should know so much about him.
Wait.
Isshiki's expression shifted.
Kaguya… the Tenseigan… Otsutsuki Hamura… historical records?
"Kaguya, that traitor... Did she expose information about the Otsutsuki and me to the ninja world? Did Hamura leave those historical records behind to counter the Otsutsuki? Is that why you have the Tenseigan—to fight me?"
…
Hyuga Fuji had no idea what conclusions Isshiki was drawing, nor did he care.
With a slight smile, Fuji said, "Bringing me into this dimension was your biggest mistake. Your only way out now is to take my body."
Isshiki didn't respond verbally. Instead, he unleashed his full power, letting his actions speak for him.
Just as Fuji had said, allowing Fuji into this space had been Isshiki's gravest error. Now, he truly had no way out.
This dimension, tied to Isshiki's eye techniques, followed him wherever he went—much like Kaguya's starting-point dimension.
Unless he abandoned his Rinnegan abilities, killed Fuji, or successfully possessed him, Fuji could always track him by tapping into this space.
Abandoning his dojutsu over one "ant"?
Impossible.
"You seem to be under a delusion from my earlier restraint," Isshiki snarled. "Our powers are worlds apart!"
