"Do you?" Adrien shot back, leaning forward slightly. "Because it sounds like you've suddenly forgotten every single argument you made back then."

"I didn't forget," Nicholas replied, his tone calm but firm. "I thought I knew what I wanted. I thought I was making the right decision—for both of us. But now…"

"Now what?" Adrien interrupted sharply. "Forget it." He had a tinge of concern for his cousin and planned to ask what changed but he stopped himself. They were not that close anyway.

Nicholas held his ground. "I was wrong to push for it in the first place."

Adrien gave a small shrug, his lips curving into the faintest of smiles. "Well, that makes this easier for me, then."

Nicholas blinked, his stance relaxing ever so slightly. "You're not going to argue?"

"Why would I?" Adrien said lightly. "Honestly, I didn't think the annulment was the best idea in the first place. I only intervened because... You know." Adrien smirked.
