The guard's gaze darted between Fenrir's face and the treasure in his hand. His initial hesitation gave way to avarice, and he licked his lips nervously. "You're suggesting... what, exactly?"
Fenrir's smile was cold and calculating. "I'm suggesting that you help my party gain entry at dawn tomorrow. Quietly, of course. No one needs to know."
The guard swallowed hard, his fingers twitching as if itching to grab the bundle. "If I do this, and someone finds out—"
"No one will find out," Fenrir interjected smoothly. "I assure you. And this is only the beginning. There's more where this came from, should you prove yourself trustworthy."
The guard's greed won out. He snatched the bundle from Fenrir's hand and concealed it beneath his armor. "All right," he said gruffly. "Come back at the break of dawn. I'll let you and your party through. But if anyone asks, I never saw you."
