From his vantage point overlooking the square, Fenrir observed the scene with quiet satisfaction. Rui's information had been invaluable, allowing him to counter the threat before it could take root. He had expected the cloaked figures to retreat once they realized they had been discovered, and their departure confirmed his suspicions.

Maric stood beside him, his expression one of mixed relief and curiosity. "So, they're gone?"

"For now," Fenrir replied, his voice calm. "They'll be back. But they've shown their hand, and that gives us the advantage."

Maric frowned. "Why not confront them directly? We could've captured them."

Fenrir's lips curled into a faint smile. "And what would that achieve? Their loyalty lies elsewhere. Eliminating a few pawns doesn't end the game—it only reveals the board."

Maric sighed, but he couldn't argue with Fenrir's logic.
