Ch 122: Your true purpose - Part 2

Fenrir was led through a series of winding corridors to a private room, where a man in his late forties sat behind a desk cluttered with papers and scrolls. His sharp eyes flicked up to Fenrir, scanning him with practiced precision.

"Welcome to the Golden Egg," the man said, gesturing to a chair. "I'm Markus, head of this branch. I understand you're looking for information."

Fenrir took the seat, his cloak shifting slightly to reveal his gloved hands. "I need a comprehensive report on the Merchant's Union Council—their alliances, rivalries, and recent movements. Particularly anything involving Vynard."

Markus leaned back, a thoughtful expression crossing his face. "Vynard, you say? Interesting. He's been under scrutiny lately, even within the Council."

Fenrir's gaze sharpened. "Why?"

Markus smirked. "That's the kind of detail that costs extra."

Fenrir slid another pouch of coins across the table. "Consider this a gesture of goodwill."
