Safe House – Early Morning
"That was a goddamn disaster."
Jayden's voice was high, cutting through the tense silence as he threw his blood-stained jacket on the table. His jaw was clenched, his breathing still heavy from the escape.
Aiden, leaning against the counter, ran a hand through his disheveled hair. "We walked right into it." His voice was low, deadly.
Amira winced as she pressed a cloth to the cut on her arm. "No shit, genius. They were waiting for us."
Bard, standing near the door, crossed his arms. "Someone tipped them off."
That statement got everyone thinking.
Marina's stomach churned. She had barely spoken since they got back, but now, she found her voice. "Are you saying we have a traitor?"
Jayden scoffed. "Wouldn't be the first time." He shot a glance at Bard.
Bard was shocked, . "You think it was me?"
Jayden shrugged. "I think you've got a past we don't know half of."
