ARIANA'S POV.
Just as his lips came within an inch of mine, I tilted my head down, and he stopped. Just as he had been about to kiss me, the image of Luke had flashed in my head, and I couldn't just do it.
Not that I cared about Luke. No, I didn't care about him. I was going to move on anyway. I would find a sweet vampire to get married to, and it could as well be Jay, but I wanted to take things slowly.

"I'm sorry," I said in a little voice, "It just feels a little sudden."
"No. It's all cool. I understand." He said, and lifted my chin to look into his mesmerizing eyes. "That shouldn't make our friendship awkward, okay? We're still friends until you decide not to be friends again. And even if you decide not to ever surpass being friends, that's fine with me." He said, and a little smile tugged on my lips.
