Fateful Reversal: The Forsaken Daughter’s Rebirth

"Wretched girl! You deserve to be sold off to some old bachelor in the mountains!"

The sharp sound of cursing echoed through the dark and damp basement.

Ren Yao was tightly bound with rough hemp ropes, her wrists and ankles bloodied from the harsh restraints. Despair surged over her like a relentless tide, suffocating her spirit. She—Ren Yao, the nominal eldest daughter of the Ren family—had been betrayed by her own mother and her greedy uncle. Now, she was about to be sold to pay off their debts!Dirty rats scurried around her feet, amplifying the horror of the situation. Was this really the end of her life?Suddenly, a dazzling white light burst forth without warning, twisting and distorting everything in the basement.

Before Ren Yao could even scream, her consciousness slipped away.

When she awoke, the pungent smell of gasoline and the blaring of car horns overwhelmed her senses.

Ren Yao's eyes flew open, only to find herself in a completely unfamiliar place.

Towering skyscrapers stretched into the heavens. Vehicles rushed by in endless streams, and people in elegant clothing walked along the streets.

Everything here was in stark contrast to the grimy, oppressive basement she had just escaped.

She looked around in bewilderment, fear and confusion gripping her heart. She hadn't been sold off to the mountains, but instead…

Had she traveled to another world?

Instinctively, Ren Yao patted her pockets, only to find them empty.

In this unfamiliar world, she had no money and no one to rely on.

"Where… am I?" she muttered to herself, a glimmer of determination flashing in her eyes.

No matter what, she was going to survive—and she would live far better than she ever had before.

Taking a deep breath, she stepped forward into this unknown world. As she ventured down the busy streets, an elderly woman in tattered clothes wobbled up to her, extending a frail hand. "Young lady, have pity… Could you spare some money?"Ren Yao hesitated for a moment, instinctively reaching into her pockets, but once again found nothing.Awkwardly withdrawing her hand, she was about to explain when a mechanical voice suddenly echoed in her mind:

"Ding! Quick-Travel System activated! Greetings, Host. I am your support system, 007."

Ren Yao froze. A system?

What kind of nonsense was this?

Before she could react, the voice continued:

"Detected: Host currently has no funds. Beginner's Task issued: Help the elderly woman cross the street. Task reward: 100 points."

Ren Yao glanced at the frail old woman, then at the bustling street ahead, and something clicked in her mind.

Helping the elderly woman across the street was simple enough.

After completing the task, she immediately used the points to exchange for some cash and information about a temporary place to stay. With her immediate crisis resolved, she decided to buy some clothes.Walking into a boutique, her shabby appearance immediately drew disdain from the staff.

"Oh my, where did this beggar come from? Do you even know what kind of store this is?"

The clerk's sharp tone ignited Ren Yao's simmering anger.

She shot the clerk a cold glance. "I'm here to buy clothes."

"Buy clothes? You?" The clerk sneered, rolling her eyes in mockery.

"You should look in the mirror and see what kind of person you are!"

The clerk reached out, intending to shove Ren Yao out of the store, but suddenly found her feet rooted to the ground, unable to move."What's going on?" The clerk panicked, struggling futilely as she sank further into her predicament.

Other customers stifled their laughter, amused by the scene.

Ren Yao's lips curled into a cold smirk. "Oh dear, looks like today isn't the best day for you to move around."With that, she turned and picked up a dress, walking straight to the fitting room. The embarrassed clerk could only stand there, sweating profusely and unable to retaliate. After trying on the dress, Ren Yao admired herself in the mirror, nodding in satisfaction.

Indeed, clothes made the person. A new outfit transformed her completely.

She walked out of the fitting room, tossed the dress onto the counter, and said coolly, "This one. Charge it."The clerk, now thoroughly humiliated, no longer dared to cause trouble. She quickly processed the payment.Ren Yao strolled out of the store with a spring in her step.

It seemed this quick-travel system might be quite useful after all.

Arriving at the temporary residence provided by the system, she pushed the door open, only to be greeted by a musty smell that assaulted her nose.Ren Yao wrinkled her nose. The stench was as potent as a biological weapon.

The system's accommodations left much to be desired, but for now, it would suffice. At least it was a roof over her head.

After setting down her meager belongings, she collapsed onto the hard bed, her thoughts racing.Fear of this unfamiliar world and hatred for her family churned within her, tightening around her heart like twin chains. She clenched her fists, her nails digging deep into her palms."Ren family, I will return. And you will pay for what you've done—every last one of you."Suddenly, a faint knock at the door shattered the silence.

Ren Yao shot upright, every nerve on edge.

Who could it be?

In this foreign world, she knew no one.

Could it be trouble already…?
