The frenzy of animals thinned out as we made our way toward the jungle's end. We weren't exactly on course with the initial path, but it didn't matter. All that did was that we drew as far from the struggle as possible.
A break finally happened—we reached an area with next to no movement, and only then could we rest.
Eiko plopped to the ground in exhaustion, and so did I. Panting hard and fast, we tried to catch our breaths whilst our gazes remained locked—a tinge of disbelief evident on our faces.
Something about our situation felt funny, and I didn't know when I began to laugh. Eiko quickly joined me, and before long, our attempts to calm down shifted to struggling to contain our laughter.
"What in the world just happened?!" She exclaimed, nearly choking on her laughter. Way too many things had happened since she met me, and they only continued to grow ridiculous.
