57. Broken Heart

His tone was no better than a whisper, but my head spun anyway. The same could be said for Eiko, who instantly rose to her feet. I watched her eyes grow wider and wider from realization and genuine horror.

Eiko froze, probably due to the chaotic events around her. She had barely recovered from the nigh-death she experienced from battling a Mountain-Stage Beast… this was simply too much.

"Sister, didn't you hear me?!" Seinaru cried, tears already choking his voice. "They took Nura!"

Eiko's breathing grew rapid at that point. Her chest rose and fell in what resembled a spell of fright. Her eyes grew wider and her expression carried her fear in its fullness.

Confusion, horror, indecision, shock--all these swam in her mind, and for the first time I saw a truly emotionally weakened Eiko.

It moved something in me, and I couldn't stand to watch.
