Chapter 99: The Plan

Chapter 99: The Plan

In the Po Zhi Clan's patriarch's chamber, Yang Wudi, Yang Wushuang, Yang Zhentian, and Yang Potian were gathered together.

"Potian, what ideas do you have for dealing with the clan's current crisis?"

Looking at his two grandfathers and his father, Yang Potian began, "Grandfather, Second Grandfather, Dad—if we don't want outsiders to know that Second Grandfather has broken through to Titled Douluo, then why not just have him hide away?"

The three elders fell silent for a moment, unsure what to make of his suggestion. Did their son (or grandson) truly think he could solve this by hiding away?

Yang Potian sensed their skepticism. "Dad, Grandfathers, what I mean by 'hiding' is a full disappearance—completely vanishing from the Douluo Continent so that no one even suspects his existence. If he's nowhere to be found, he'll be safe."

Yang Wudi considered this. "How could your second grandfather, a Titled Douluo, just disappear?"

"It's simple: if he relocates to a secluded place where no one can find him, he'll essentially disappear from the Douluo Continent."

"Are there even places like that in this world?"

Yang Potian could hardly believe what he was hearing. Were his grandfathers and father really unable to think of even basic hiding strategies? In the original story, the Clear Sky Clan hid away for over twenty years, yet managed to produce five Titled Douluo elders. During that time, neither Spirit Hall nor other factions had any idea.

"Grandfather, I actually have three possible plans. Do you want to hear them?"

When none of the three responded, Yang Potian continued, "The first plan is that, when you all go to the Star Dou Forest to hunt for spirit beasts, you pretend that Second Grandfather was killed in battle. We'll carry out a normal funeral within the clan, while in reality, Second Grandfather could take refuge in the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. Not only would he be safe there, but he could also continue refining medicine while protecting the site from intruders."

"The second plan is similar: we fake Second Grandfather's death in the forest, then arrange for him to hide within one of the major factions—the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan, the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, or the Heaven Dou Imperial Family. Surely one of these three groups has a place secluded enough for him to go into closed-door cultivation undisturbed."

"The third plan is to stage a falling-out with the clan, with Second Grandfather either faking his death or going into self-imposed exile. He could then take some members with him and relocate to Hanhai City or an overseas island. He would return only if the clan were in danger."

After hearing these ideas, the three elder men felt as though a weight had been lifted from their shoulders. Who would've thought that there were so many ways to handle this crisis?

They stared at Yang Potian in amazement, each privately wondering: what kind of brain does this child have to come up with so many unusual, yet workable, solutions?

In truth, Yang Potian preferred the first and third plans. He'd only mentioned the second to gauge the attitudes of his grandfathers. If they chose to hide within a major faction, it would signal that the clan was on a path of outright opposition to Spirit Hall. And if Second Grandfather hid among those factions, they could even ambush Spirit Hall during spirit-hunting operations.

At that moment, both Yang Wudi and his father, Yang Zhentian, turned to Second Grandfather, awaiting his decision.

After some thought, Yang Wushuang finally said, "I'll go to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. That way, I can watch over our hidden treasure and refine medicines for the clan."

An idea struck Yang Potian, and he spoke up again. "Grandfather, Second Grandfather, Dad will likely reach Titled Douluo soon. Should he hide away as well? And my mother might not take too long to break through either."

After thinking it over, Yang Wudi responded, "Potian, we're only having your second grandfather hide because he and I have trained together since childhood. If I make my breakthrough to Titled Douluo, people may start suspecting him, which could draw unwanted attention."

"As for your parents, they've both kept a low profile these past few years. They've barely revealed their true strength to anyone, so no one even knows they've reached Spirit Douluo. As long as they continue to keep quiet, they should be safe."

"Have you both thought about what kind of spirit rings you'll get?" asked Yang Potian.

"We're planning to head to the Star Dou Forest soon and aim for spirit beasts between sixty to eighty thousand years old," Yang Wudi replied.

Yang Potian considered this, then said, "Dad, do you remember that Titan Giant Python we encountered before? You estimated it was very close to a hundred thousand years old. Why not go after it?"

Yang Wudi and Yang Wushuang exchanged a look and chuckled.

Finally, his father spoke. "Potian, while a hundred-thousand-year spirit ring is impressive, the energy it contains is too much. Your grandfathers' current physical states wouldn't be able to handle it."

"Didn't Grandfather already absorb a sixty-thousand-year spirit bone?" asked Yang Potian.

"A spirit bone can indeed enhance physical strength, but one alone isn't enough. To absorb a hundred-thousand-year spirit ring, a spirit master would need at least three high-level spirit bones, or an incredibly strong body."

Still reluctant to give up, Yang Potian pressed on, "Isn't there some way to improve your physical strength? A lone hundred-thousand-year spirit beast without its pack is comparatively easier to hunt."

His father gave him an amused look. "You talk as if a hundred-thousand-year spirit beast is easy to kill. Do you have a plan?"

"Dad, don't forget that I have Blood Swan's Kiss. If we combine that with the Po Zhi Clan's poisons, what hundred-thousand-year spirit beast couldn't we kill?"

Before he could finish, Yang Wudi interrupted, "Potian, I didn't realize you had a treasure like Blood Swan's Kiss. Why don't you bring it out and let me study it?"

Second Grandfather's eyes lit up with excitement as well.

Yang Potian internally berated himself—he'd accidentally let slip about the Blood Swan's Kiss. Knowing his grandfathers' obsession with medicine and poison, there was no way they wouldn't want to get their hands on it. His father had already taken his Amorous Yearning Heartbroken Red before; he hadn't seen a trace of it since.

Thinking quickly, he replied, "It's in my room, Grandfathers. I'll bring it to you later."

Yang Potian had no intention of revealing his hidden storage spirit tool; it held many treasures. If his grandfathers saw them, he'd surely lose even more.

But his grandfather persisted. "Potian, you should know how dangerous Blood Swan's Kiss can be. One small slip and it could destroy the entire clan. Go get it now; I'll keep it safe for you."

Yang Potian sighed inwardly—his grandfathers' desire to possess the Blood Swan's Kiss was thinly veiled under such a weak excuse.

Reluctantly, he left to fetch it, transferring the Blood Swan's Kiss into a secondary storage device before bringing it back to the chamber. When he handed it over, both grandfathers looked at the vial with an expression of reverence, as if they were gazing at a legendary treasure.

Yang Potian glanced at his father, who sat there watching, looking particularly satisfied.

Only then did he realize that his father had baited him into revealing his treasure.
