A DAY TO REMEMBER

My heart froze. I couldn't move, couldn't speak—I just sat there, pointing at his plate, then back at him, but no words would come out. Justin, who sat behind me, tried to coax me into saying something, but it wasn't working. I desperately wanted to believe it was all in my head—that my food wasn't that bad—but Daræy's straight face made it impossible. He looked so serious. What the eff… is it really that bad?

"Calm down, it can't be that bad," Justin said, trying to reassure me.

Then, Light picked up her plate as if to confirm whether my cooking was as tragic as Daræy's face suggested. The moment she put a spoonful into her mouth, she immediately spat it out.

"Jeez!" she yelled, scrubbing her tongue like she had just eaten dirt.

And just like that, my world shattered into a million pieces. Why me? Why today? Why, of all days, when they visited? Why couldn't this have happened to someone else? This meal was supposed to be for just the girls, and if they had laughed at me, I wouldn't have cared. But this was the first time we were offering food to these guys, and now they were eating my disaster of a meal.

I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't even realize tears were rolling down my face. Justin tried to get me to look away, but I couldn't. Then, Joshua picked up his plate and took a bite. Once again, anticipation almost killed me. I watched, holding my breath, as he slowly lowered his hands.

I was about to pass out when he said, "Light and Daræy, both of you don't have sense."

Then, out of nowhere, a slow smile crept onto Daræy's face while Light blinked like there was something in her eyes.

I looked around, confused, searching for a confirmation of what was happening.

Biancus grabbed her plate, took a bite, and suddenly shouted, "The food is sweet!"

One by one, the rest picked up their plates and tasted it.

Ruth smiled. "It actually tastes really good."

And then, Daræy and Light burst into laughter.

Irene and Justin immediately started smacking them while I broke into tears.

"Why would you do that to me?!" I wailed. "I thought you guys were about to eat trash on your first day here! It was the first time we were serving you food in our house, and it was going to be garbage!"

Daræy and Light couldn't stop laughing.

"Yo, did you see her face? Man, that was gold!" Daræy said, still wheezing.

Light tried to run, but Irene caught her, while Daræy was too caught up in his laughter to even attempt an escape.

"What did I do to deserve this? Why me?!" I kept crying, which only made everyone laugh harder.

But I was pained. I genuinely thought that was the end for me because the one thing I hate the most is humiliation.

Then Daræy finally got up and said, "Okay, guys, that's enough."

He spread his arms wide for a hug, but I refused to budge. So, he walked up to me, knelt to my level, and pulled me into a hug.

"I'm sorry," he said, patting my back. "I can't promise it won't happen again, but I'm sorry for this one."

"Light, apologize now," he ordered.

Light sighed dramatically. "I'm sorry too. I can't promise it won't happen again, but I'm sorry for this one."

That sent everyone into another fit of laughter, including me.

"Daræy and Light, both of you are the same type of person," Biancus said, still laughing.

"The two of you should be locked up in one room so you can kill each other," Ruth added.

When the laughter finally died down, we all sat to eat. Daræy pulled me up from bed and started feeding me.

"Aww, I'll find love soon," Light teased, making Daræy blush.

Immediately, the rest of the group coupled up and started feeding each other—except for Ruth and Light, who lacked partners.

"Wahala for us without love," Ruth complained.

"Like, we are seriously lacking lovers," Light agreed.

"Come, my dear, let's love each other," they said, feeding each other dramatically.

We couldn't stop laughing.

Later That Evening

After dinner, we spent the rest of the evening playing games, teasing each other, and talking about everything and nothing. The day flew by in laughter, and before we knew it, it was time for the boys to leave.

"Today was nice," Joshua said.

"Yeah, we should do this more often—at least once a week," Justin added.

"You could invite us to one of your exclusive parties," Irene suggested.

"Irene, not everyone likes partying as much as you do," Joshua said. "We all know Biancus would be feeling too lazy to go."

Biancus stopped mid-step. "See finish," she muttered, shaking her head as she walked past.

"And we all know Tessa won't go if Biancus doesn't, and neither will the rest," he continued.

We all nodded in agreement.

"Besides, it's nice to have actual friends and not just party buddies all the time," Justin added.

"Well, we'll be expecting you guys more often, then," Ruth said.

"Yeah," Joshua agreed.

"You guys are free to come over to my house anytime," Justin said, looking at Biancus and Ruth. "I have lots of snacks and food."

"Ah, we'll be there tomorrow," Ruth said without hesitation.

"And there's a pool, too," Justin added, this time looking at me.

"Really? We'll make sure to have time," I said excitedly.

With that, we agreed to more hangouts, and the boys were about to leave when Light—being Light—started complaining.

"What about me? There are four people here, and you didn't mention me," she whined.

"Five, actually," Irene corrected.

"No, four. I didn't count you," Light shot back. "We all know what you want, and he has given it to you multiple times, so you're not part of this."

Irene hit her with a pillow while Justin just smiled.

"Well, Light likes games, and I have lots of games at my house," Daræy said. "You're free to come over anytime, or if we're meeting at Justin's, just tell me, and I'll bring them over."

"Thank you!" Light said happily.

And that was our final agreement for the day. The boys left in Daræy's car, while we headed back inside, reminiscing about everything that happened and laughing.
