Shadows in the Night

The settlement's uneasy truce held, though the air was thick with unspoken tensions. Tobi spent the next day working alongside both the Vanguard and the surface dwellers, trying to bridge the gap between them.

It was slow, painstaking work repairing shelters, distributing rations, and patrolling the perimeter. Despite his efforts, distrust lingered like an unseen specter.

Tobi moved from one task to another, his hands busy but his mind preoccupied with the deep-seated mistrust that seemed to permeate every interaction. He knew each small act of cooperation was a step towards unity, yet the progress felt agonizingly slow.
