Seeing Eina gripping the wand in her hand, Astraea decided to entrust the task to her.
After all, she was a member of the Sol familia, and Astraea initially wanted to assign her something relatively safe.
But with Eina being the only one here equipped with a weapon, there wasn't much choice.
"I understand, Sister Astraea. You stay safe too—"
This request perfectly aligned with Eina's wishes. Without hesitation, she turned and headed in the direction Astraea indicated.
In the urban area, battles had already broken out. When Eina arrived, the surrounding alleys were crowded with curious onlookers.
Moments earlier, many of them had been crying in fear, but now they'd gathered to watch the commotion.
Humans are such peculiar creatures. No matter how scared they are, their curiosity always wins out, Eina thought with a sigh.
"Wait... isn't that Tiona and Tione?"
Using her unique constitution to push through the crowd, Eina made her way to the front.
The battle was unfolding in a plaza, where dozens of green, plant-like creatures wreaked havoc.
Calling them "creatures" felt like a stretch. Their lower halves were still rooted in the ground, resembling potted plants.
In this case, the plaza was their "pot."
At the center of the chaos, two figures battled fiercely—the Amazonian sisters of the Sol familia.
The sisters had planned to enjoy the Monster Festival with some shopping, but instead, they found themselves working overtime.
Initially, they thought they'd be dealing with ordinary monsters, so they hadn't even bothered to carry weapons.
However, these peculiar creatures proved to be much trickier than expected.
Neither of them recalled any information about such monsters, even with the vast knowledge available within the Sol familia.
After all, with a strategist like Riveria, the familia had access to detailed intelligence on many dungeons and monsters.
"Tiona—find a way to grab a weapon already! Stop wasting time!"
"Easier said than done! There are too many of them!"
Tione was tangled in midair, swinging like a ragdoll in the grasp of one of the monsters.
Her Amazonian resilience ensured she wouldn't be injured, but it was undeniably frustrating.
Moreover, fighting back in her current state was nearly impossible. The creatures' bodies were as tough as iron, making it difficult to damage them barehanded.
Meanwhile, Tiona darted across the plaza, her sharp eyes tracking the enemies.
It seemed the monsters weren't fully above ground yet. With each attack, more of their forms emerged, leaving massive craters in the plaza's stone floor.
Tiona grimaced. If they hit a person with that kind of force, it'd be disastrous.
"How did the Ganesha familia even manage to drag these things out of the dungeon?" she yelled.
"You're asking me? Who am I supposed to ask?" Tione retorted. "And why do these things keep multiplying?!"
Despite the chaos, the sisters still found time to exchange remarks.
Tione, suspended in midair, appeared to have it easier for the moment—she didn't need to constantly dodge attacks like her sister.
But her relief was short-lived.
The monster holding her suddenly twisted midair, slamming her into a nearby building with a thunderous crash.
The structure collapsed instantly, burying Tione under a mountain of rubble.
"Tione! Damn it..."
Seeing her sister trapped under the debris, Tiona's eyes blazed with fury.
No longer holding back, she turned to face the plant-like creature lunging at her, its whiplike appendage slicing through the air.
This time, Tiona didn't dodge.
Spreading her fingers wide, she caught the incoming attack with both hands, halting it in its tracks.
Cracks spread across the ground beneath Tiona's feet, but she held her ground without stepping back.
"I'm here to help, Tiona!"
Eina wasted no time watching from the sidelines. She forced her way through the crowd and leaped into the battlefield.
"Scream, my mystery! Descend! The ultimate catastrophe! Shed tears of despair and hatred—Grand Catastrophe!"
As she moved, Eina began her incantation.
She wasn't skilled in chantless casting, and as her magical energy fluctuated, several new monsters instantly shifted their focus and dropped their weapons to charge at her.
Their reaction speed was even faster than Tiona's, closing the distance to Eina in mere moments.
"These things respond to magic? Be careful, Eina!" Tiona shouted, her warning cutting through the chaos—but it seemed it might have come just a fraction too late.
"You disgusting bastards! Get away from her!"
With a thunderous roar, the distant rubble exploded outward, and a figure shot forth from the debris.
Tione's entire body radiated a fiery red glow, her rage fueling an unstoppable surge of power.
With both hands, she grabbed the enormous maw of one of the bizarre flower monsters and, using sheer brute strength, ripped it apart, splitting it cleanly in half.
Her furious attack bought Eina just enough time to complete her spell.
Dark, ominous air materialized out of nowhere.
The curse condensed into a tangible phenomenon, forming a vortex of sinister energy that engulfed the entire battlefield, surrounding all the monstrous flowers in its grasp.
The strange flowers froze in place under the oppressive black mist. As it seeped into their forms, the vibrant green of their bodies turned sickly yellow, then withered visibly as though drained of life.
Within seconds, the monsters seemed to experience the entirety of their lifespans in accelerated decay.
Soon, the grotesque flowers collapsed into lifeless wooden husks piled atop one another. A moment later, as if on cue, the black mist vanished entirely, and the remnants of the creatures disintegrated into ash, scattering into the wind.
"Uh… why does this magic feel so terrifying?" Tiona whispered into her sister's ear, her voice low and uneasy.
Having just witnessed the gruesome demise of the troublesome monsters, Tiona couldn't suppress the chill that ran down her spine.
"This is Eina's new magic," Tione muttered, her tone half in awe. "I'd heard about it before, but this is my first time seeing it in action."
She hadn't expected it to manifest in such a grim and fearsome form. The sheer destructive force was alarming.
Compared to her earlier skill [Berserk], this one wasn't as visually overwhelming, yet it was far more unsettling.
Most spells could be countered or endured by sheer physical resilience, but curses like this one left no room for defense. It was an unstoppable, suffocating force.
Tiona shuddered. "This attack is too terrifying... there's no escaping it."
