Selene exited the carriage and made her way inside to get a better look now that Ruby and Trevor would not be in her way.
The guards were quick to pull everything from the walls and place it outside.
"I want all the things belonging to Paige packed neatly and set to the side. My battle was never with her," said Selene.
"You can trust her?" Xavier asked, following Selene.
"I don't know. I simply have to take her word for now. I have never spoken to Paige to know where her heart lies but she left without a fight. Her anger might turn to me and she could want the home back, but for now, she did nothing to me," Selene said, willing to give Paige the benefit of the doubt.
Selene touched the wall, running her fingers against it. "The walls used to be a different colour. There is much to do to get it back as it once was. Do you think the old painters would accept money to recreate our portraits?"
"For the right price they would," Xavier replied.
