Rocco's Awakening

"…The only accomplishment I can credit you with," Sylas said quietly, "is giving birth to Rocco."

There was room for leniency.

She had, after all, brought Rocco into the world.

For that alone, Sylas considered granting her the mercy of a swift and painless death as one possible option.

"…Rejoice. For harming the Di Malvento family's treasure, you'll be punished personally by my father," he said, his voice devoid of emotion.

With those final words, Sylas turned his back on the hysterical woman, leaving her to her fate.

Something warm was wrapped around his body.

It felt constricting but also oddly comforting, enveloping him completely.

The sensation was what woke him up.

As his vision cleared, Rocco blinked his eyes at the sight above him.

It wasn't an unfamiliar ceiling—far from it.

He instantly recognized the canopy of his own bed.
