Vivian's hospital room was a single occupancy, and the environment was very peaceful.
The newborn baby was quietly sleeping, Vivian was resting, and Frank was sitting by her bed, talking to her.
When Laurent knocked and entered, Frank had just let go of Vivian's hand, his eyes seemingly a bit moist.
Laurent asked them,
"What happened?"
"Don't even mention it," Vivian said, with a hint of annoyance in her voice. "He just cried when he thought about how I was in the delivery room, in so much pain, pale as a ghost."
With Frank's help, Vivian sat up in bed, looking at Laurent with a face full of disdain.
"Can you believe it? A grown man, and yet he's so faint-hearted. I really can't stand him."
Though Vivian was complaining, the smile on her face was impossible to hide.
