Clark's tears fell in big drops, and in no time, the card was soaked through.
Clark wiped his tears, raised his hand, and tossed the card into the trash bin. Then, still crying, he started laughing.
"I knew you would fall in love with her, after all, she gave you a child."
"This has nothing to do with her having a child with me!"
Dave denied Clark's words.
He knew in his heart that his decision to try to win Laurent back had nothing to do with their daughter. It was purely because he couldn't let her go.
Sometimes, he wished that she hadn't had the child. At least that way, he wouldn't feel so indebted to her.
Because when she gave birth, he wasn't there to accompany her, and due to his own emotional baggage, he missed out on witnessing their daughter's growth for all these years—something he could never make up for.
