Bitter ritual

The Orcs treated cacao, or locally known as Kakao, as sacred—something that was deeply connected to the Earth Goddess herself.

Because of that, their territory was filled with thousands upon thousands of cacao trees, each one mature and ready to bear fruit all year round.

Both the Orcanine tribe and the Orcupine tribes worshipped these trees and protected them from any harm with diligence.

Tradition dictated that for every dead tree, ten new seeds would be planted—an ancient practice passed down through generations of Chieftains to ensure that they would always be blessed by the Goddess.

It was the reason why this place was so important to the Orc Tribes, and leaving it would also mean that they were abandoning the land that was blessed by the Goddess herself.

Even if they found fertile ground elsewhere, it would take them decades to grow a new forest of cacao trees that was ready to bear fruit.
