Rivalry in motion

Meanwhile, deep within the forests, two guards of the Orcanine tribe stood watch near the entrance of their village. Their task was simple but crucial: to keep an eye around their perimeter and make sure that the rival Orcupine Orcs didn't get anywhere closer to their territory.

The guards, however, were currently engaged in their favorite pastime—slapping each other around in a rough game of strength and reflexes. But then, all of a sudden, both stopped as their noses twitched.

A scent drifted through the air—one they hadn't smelled in a very long time.

Meat.

It had been several seasons since they'd caught whiff of any deer or cattle in the forest. The earthquakes had prompted a wide-scale migration of most of the wildlife from the forest, leading to a decrease in resources for the Orcs, whose main diet consisted of red meat.

Yet now, unmistakably, they could smell the scent of blood in the air. Fresh blood.
