Chapter 8
Ronin could feel as Percy pulled him to his feet, for the numbness he'd wished suddenly felt exaggerated under Percy's warm presence that dragged him into the light of the hall. Ronin looked down, afraid of watching Percy pity him; even though he knew he'd gone crazy; he couldn't watch someone pretend he wasn't.
Ronin slowly separated from Percy, soon walking by his side rather than under the embrace he didn't deserve; the door scratched open as he walked into a new classroom, a fresh one for him to dirty.
Percy had left his side, leaving Ronin to watch as he knelt beside another desk. He had only set eyes on her before rip in his gut, didn't bleed, didn't heal. For it could only note what was seen; soon, his body had done the same when he had drawn closer to the wren; his eyes were wide as he examined her new complexion. It lacked the pale, lifeless color she used to wear, and the perfectly curled hair could only complement it.
She had changed, even among the past week, he could only now see it up close.
For she had knocked in his door at least four times in the last week, each time he knew she was there.
He'd get up and approach the door each time, somehow still surprised when he'd realize it wouldn't open, binded by the line of locks he'd set up to feel safe, to know now he's locked himself within the house he'd built, cluttered with his thoughts.
The windows were boarded shut with the walls of regret that said they kept him safe when really all he had done was lock himself amongst the things that scared him, with the demons that sat in the kitchen, feeding off his past and leaving the mess across the table he would have to clean.
Eventually, for now he'd grown comfortable with the uncomfortable, he feared moving, changing the habits he'd built.
Even now he could recognize no longer was she stained in the rugged black clothes that ran off her shoulder, rather the clean shirt that tucked neatly into a long skirt that hesitated to touch the boots below it.
Her eyes met his, as he soon saw their blue hue shift into the restrained black eyes. Her hands began to tremble as well as her left cheek that twitched with her shrinking pupils, the scene around them seemed to rapture with his presence, as if it wasn't ready for the weight he carried with him, nor the way it would effect the students who distributed throughout the room. His heart grew with it as a anxious sweat began to past across his forehead.
Not even he was ready for the sharp change he'd created, the rapture between stable environment and the stark contrast for Ronin to realize hed been the opposite.
"Ronin?" Percy voice came into frame as he blinked suddenly, finding himself still standing in front of wren who had looked up at him with a nervous gesture, confused Ronin looked around the room, soon reaching herhand out, she shared a glance at Percy for assurance, before her voice sounded in the silence the classroom has come to, for her greeting came from a raspy place in her throat, as if it had still been healing.
He reterned the greeting watching as wren hesitantly touched his hand barely prickling his sweaty skin before retreating back to percys.
He took his que as the class began the door had now blent in with the walls, navigating around the desks he seated next to a stark boy with a quick glance, returned by an angry stare and an over the top hand gesture.
Ronins eyes glued to his fingers that fidgeted under the desk, as if they were telling a story or acting a scene in front of him. For he could still hear the room, the teachers voice, and the smirk coming from the desk behind him.
His face grew horridly pale as he heard a sharp click, and soon the smell of cigarettes filled the room.
Ronin stood up from his seat staring behind his rapidly as the boy exhaled the wave of smoke that now reached Ronin. Stumbling over his desk he dragged his bag with his almost running to the front of the class glancing back rapidly he turned, his hand reached out ready to catch the door nob when met with the Smooth wall that replaced it.
His eyes blared open, his breathing cut short as the room shrunk three times, now taking the shape of cell. He felt a grip on his arm as the teachers stern gaze locked in his. He squirmed in her arms, trying to decide between the classes eyes or hers.
"Young man, get back in your seat you are not dismissed" her voice matched her look perfectly.
"No, no I really have to go" his voice grew louder as he pushed her arm off of him gently before repeating the same words as she informed it again.
The door opened slowly as a man walked in, Ronins gaze turned to his who's was strict with an intended dosapline as he reached his arm out Ronin almost trembled in the scene he had created.
The man pushed Ronin as he began to scold him with a demanding voice, her voice grew over his as ronin triped over the bag he'd dropped and squeezed out the new door that lay a jar for him.
The mans eyes flew over to him shortly as his lips pursed before returning to the argument in front of him.
