I still remember what happened a few hours ago. I had withdrawn nearly a month's salary from him in advance.

Adding that to my loans and previous savings, I finally scraped together $500,000.

Entering the private room, I instinctively searched for Conrad.

His tall, slender figure moved with elegance as he exchanged pleasantries with others.

The crystal chandelier's refracted light outlined his handsome profile.

The Manager gave me a little push, nudging me towards the center of the crowd.

"Mr. Conrad, is this someone from your company?"

Conrad glanced at me, a faint smile tugging at his lips. "Yes, a new hire."

"What kind of newbie needs Mr. Conrad's personal introduction? She looks quite impressive though."

The conversation took a turn as everyone began to take their seats.

The Manager placed me in the seat next to Conrad, whispering instructions: "Be sharp today. When it's time to take a drink for him, do it."
