A misunderstanding

The doors swung open, Abrielle heard them as they opened but she didn't bother turning towards the castle and focused on her tea while reading a book. It was a novel she unexpectedly stumbled upon in the library and has been endorsed in it for days now.

She heard footsteps rushing towards her and was a bit distracted, wondering if there was urgent news from the castle. Who knows, maybe the goddess has mercy after seeing her suffering and decides to give her a break by letting Cedric unexpectedly die during his trip.

Cedric, too long, strides down the pathway lined with plants. The snow had barely completely melted away, but the plants were now lush and soon would be covered with blooming flowers.

The garden smelled like wet soil and herbs. His jaw was clenched; he had suppressed his rage and tirelessly travelled on horseback for a week, only resting when the horses were about to collapse from exhaustion and to take light meals.
