Lena scoffed. "Please. I am the epitome of focus."

Lucas muttered under his breath. "More like the epitome of chaos."

Still, they pressed forward.

A Sudden Storm

The wind picked up first—a low, howling whistle weaving through the trees, carrying with it the scent of rain. Lucas felt the temperature drop almost instantly, a damp chill seeping into his clothes.

Then, the sky darkened.

Fast.

Too fast.

Lucas barely had time to process before the first raindrop landed on his cheek. Then another. Then a thousand more. Within seconds, the drizzle turned into a torrential downpour, the sky unleashing its fury in thick, hammering sheets of water.

"Shit!" Lucas cursed, shielding his eyes from the onslaught.

Lena groaned beside him, yanking up her hood—though it did little to protect her from the storm. "This is insane!" she shouted over the deafening rain.
