The Dragon Dance

Selene frowned, clasping her hands in front of her. "Saving a kingdom? What does that mean?"

"You will not understand," Elyra said, looking down at her feet before meeting Selene's gaze again. There was something unsettling in her expression, something unreadable. She stared so intently that Selene instinctively took a step back. "But you have to promise, when the time comes, you do the right thing."

"Okay, girl, you are scaring me." Selene crossed her arms, studying Elyra with narrowed eyes. "That's real cryptic, Frostwynd. The right thing according to who? You? Kade? The King of the North?"

"According to what is right."

Selene scoffed. "Oh, sure, because that's so much clearer."

Elyra didn't waver. "Promise me, Selene."

"I don't make promises to something I don't know."

"Just…Promise me."

Her eyes looked so convincing.

Selene's jaw tightened.

The room felt too quiet, too heavy.
