Aria's smile widened slightly, a spark of satisfaction flickering in her eyes as she repeated, "I said Lucien got them for me. He thought it would suit me better than what I had before." She tilted her head, feigning innocence. "Is something wrong, Helena?"
Helena's mind raced, her thoughts a whirlwind of disbelief and rage. Lucien? The same Lucien who had always been cold and indifferent toward Aria? The same Lucien who barely spared her a second glance? How could he have gone out of his way to buy her such expensive clothes?
"Of course not," Helena said finally, forcing a smile that didn't reach her eyes. "I was just... surprised."
