"Well," Aria whispered, her voice just above a murmur, "at least he's a capable brother, unlike you." The words slipped out before she could stop them, and her face flushed with embarrassment as she regretted her quick retort. Now she was in big trouble!!!
Darius frowned and looked up sharply, his piercing gaze locking onto Aria. "What did you say?" he asked, his voice low but laced with warning.
Aria quickly shook her head, her hands instinctively clasping the edge of the desk. "Nothing… I didn't say anything," she replied hurriedly, her heart racing at the thought of offending him. Her brothers' tempers were unpredictable, and she didn't want to test his patience.
"Good," he said curtly, his eyes narrowing slightly before he turned his attention back to the documents on his desk.
