Chapter 108 Tensions and Resolve

"The strongest combat corps protected by three walls, well, so powerful, I'm so scared!" Oluo's words dripped with sarcasm, taunting the military police who had been keeping a close watch on them.

The military police, already on edge, bristled with anger. One of the soldiers, unable to hold his temper, snapped, "What did you say! Brat, do you dare say it again?"

Oluo, undeterred, grinned back with even more defiance. "Not only once, but a hundred times if you want. Do you want to hear it? Sure, I'll satisfy your request."

His voice cut through the tension, "You guys in the Military Police Corps are cowards. You hide behind your safe walls and flaunt your power, but you're too scared to face the Titans head-on like us in the Survey Corps. You only know how to bully those weaker than you. And then you think you're the best? In my eyes, even the Garrison Corps is stronger than you!"

Ryo's face scrunched with frustration as he rubbed his forehead. This guy couldn't help himself, could he? He had just antagonized both the Garrison Corps and the military police in one go. Was there no end to the trouble he'd cause?

The military police, now fully enraged, barked an order, "How dare you disrespect us? Arrest him!"

But Oluo stood his ground, unafraid. "Wonder who would dare? This is the Survey Corps. Not your precious military police. Let's see who tries anything."

Ryo, along with the rest of the team, moved quickly to block the military police's advances. The tension was thick in the air. The military police might have had their muskets, but Ryo and his companions were battle-hardened veterans, ready for anything. Their collective presence alone made the military police hesitate.

Seeing the group of Survey Corps soldiers unfazed, the military police began to falter. Despite their weapons, they were outnumbered, and the murderous aura from the seasoned soldiers surrounding them made them rethink their actions.

The military police, realizing their own position, backed off. "You just wait!" one of them hissed, before retreating, their humiliation evident in their stiff, defeated posture.

Oluo, still filled with bravado, scoffed as the military police retreated. "Even with 5,000 of you, you're still no match for us. Cowards hiding behind your walls!"

Ryo couldn't help but sigh as he rubbed his temples. "Oluo, this guy's a disaster waiting to happen," he muttered to himself. It wasn't just the military police that would be a problem now—antagonizing the Garrison Corps and the military police like this would make things difficult for the Survey Corps in the future, especially when they needed their cooperation.

Shaking his head, Ryo decided to let it go. "Let's just move on," he said to the group, his tone steady. "We've wasted enough time here."

The group made their way into the city, heading toward Elder's home. After a short visit, Ryo excused himself. He had other matters to take care of, things that had been on his mind since they first arrived at the Rose Wall.

The captain had promised him that once they reported back from the Royal City, he would be allowed to return to the Training Corps. The journey to the Royal City wasn't far—only a half-day by horse. It wouldn't take long to finish his business there, and Ryo knew he'd be back soon enough.

But it wasn't just the report that was on his mind. Krista was waiting for him back at the Training Corps, and the thought of her warmed his heart. Winter was coming, and he wanted to get her something special. A new coat, perhaps. A waistcoat with fur, something that would keep her warm and remind her of him whenever she wore it.

As he entered a clothing store in the city, Ryo felt a sense of calm. Despite everything going on around them, he couldn't wait to get back to Krista.
