The next morning, I woke up to the faint sounds of swords clashing right outside my window. My eyes slowly fluttered open only to realize I was alone on my giant sized bed and I was lying down on one of the pillows I had used to demarcate the bed. The sound of the swords grew louder and I sat up, the heavy duvet pooling around my waist.
I stood up and dragged myself to the window, wondering what the whole racket was about and that was when I saw them. Through the lace thin curtains, I caught sight of them. Two men training with swords, one was my husband and the other the duke!
I watched as both men danced on the grass, both shirtless as the rhythmic clang of steel rang through the air as the air. Sweat clung to their skins as they moved both with lethal grace. I didn't know when I stepped forward, leaning on the window sill as I watched them.
The duke was a good fighter, there was no doubt about that. But Reagan, Reagan was exceptional! He hadn't been labeled the best knight of the kingdom for no reason! Reagan moved with such calculated precision and ferocity, almost as if he knew the moves of the duke.
My gaze moved to the duke, his muscles flexing as he tried to block Reagan's attack. Though he was formidable, but he was no match for Reagan. Killian lacked the fluidity of Reagan's movement. His moves were just too perfect, well calculated. Reagan fought like a man who had danced with death and lived to tell tale.
I wondered what it would be like to spar with him! I thought to myself as I sighed wistfully while deciding to enjoy the view. I watched Reagan and Killian move some more before Killian stepped forward and I watched him whisper something to Reagan's ear, while smiling.
But whatever he had said, it didn't seem Reagan found it funny because in one movement, Reagan attacked Killian. He knocked his sword to the side and shoved him down, pointing his own sword at the duke's throat, he had won!
Instead of getting angry, Killian smiled up at Reagan then all of a sudden his gaze moved to where I was on the window. Reagan then turned his head too at that moment, his gaze zeroing in on me and I immediately bent down while cursing myself in my head.
He saw me! He definitely saw me! I thought to myself wincing in embarrassment.
"Come on out princess, do not hide your beautiful face from us!" I heard a voice call, Killian.
I knew if I didn't come out Killian was going to keep calling on me, besides if a duke called on you, you have to answer. Plastering a smile on my face, I came back off, an awkward smile on my face as I waved.
"Tis a good morning, is it not princess?" Killian asked me as he stretched his arms out and I tried my possible best no to allow my eyes to wander on his body.
I heard a groan come from Reagan. My gaze cut to him only to find him already walking away, not bothering to acknowledge me whatsoever.
"Oh come on man, you won? What the hell crawled up your ass this morning?" Killian called after Reagan who was already long go. Scoffing, Killian turned to look at me, "Anyway, would you like to have a morning stroll with me your highness?"
I thought about it for a minute and I suddenly found myself nodding my head. "But of course, I'd love to!" I answered simply because I didn't have anything planned for the day.
Killian seemed very pleased with my answer. A wide grin spread across his face as he stared up at me. "Looking forward to it."
For some strange reason, I was too! I finally had something exciting planned. Smiling, I turned away from the window and decided to go and have a bath. When I was done, I took extra time in getting ready. I wanted to dress to impress the duke but at the same time not too much. I settled on an off the shoulder deep blue cotton dress that fell just right above my ankles, and I wore a pair of black ankle boots underneath. As for my hair, I ran a brush through it and just pinned a white bow on top of my hair. Next I wore my pearl earrings and a pearl necklace to complete the look
I touched up my face a little bit and when I was ready, I made my way down the stairs and to the garden where I met Killian waiting for me. The moment Killian saw me, his mouth dropped slightly open as his eyes raked up and down my body, not in a leering way that would make me uncomfortable.
"Gods above, I have heard tales of your beauty but I fear none of them had done justice to vision me." Killian's voice was tinged with awe as he stared at me.
A faint blush crept on my cheek as I made my way into the garden, "I see you've been working on your lines." I replied with a teasing smile, though my heart skipped a beat at the intensity of his gaze.
He chuckled as he stared at me, "Believe me, this is simply the truth."
And I do believe him! Smiling, I gazed up at him. "Shall we then?"
Killian nodded his head and motioned for me to walk ahead, ever the gentleman I see! I thought to myself as I walked forward with Killian following closely behind me. Together we strolled in the beautiful garden in a comfortable silence.
"So you like to watch?" Killian suddenly asked.
I frowned at him with a puzzled look on my face, "Hmm?"
"Shirtless men, you know princess I didn't exactly peg you for the type." Killian said as he waggled his brows at me.
By the ancients! "I did no such thing!" I said defensively but even as I said so, I could feel my cheeks heating.
Killian seemed to notice that because he smirked at me, "Oh, is that so?" He asked in a taunting manner, "Tell me, whose body you preferred? Reagan's or mine?"
My mind flashed back to the scene I had woken up to this morning. Reagan's body moving with such graceful movements. The way his muscles rippled with each graceful movements. The way he held the sword, the way he moved with such grace and precision. He was really good!
"Ah, I see!" Killian's voice brought me back to the present, "He is your husband after all, besides, I never could really compare myself to Reagan!" Killian added with a wry smile before he moved forward and was that a note of disappointment I heard in his tone?
Feeling bad for him, I decided to run to catch up to him. I wasn't exactly sure what I would have said at that moment but before I could get any word out we were suddenly interrupted by the sounds of hooves hitting the ground. I looked up only to find Reagan riding on a dark horse while pulling another white mare behind him.
Speak of the devil and he appears in the form of a knight riding a dark steed!
