He Tingchen entered, and Fang Anning immediately greeted him with a smile, saying attentively, "Sir, you're back."
The man looked at her puzzled, suspecting ulterior motives, for unsolicited warmth could imply scheming or thievery.
"I'll take your coat for you." Fang Anning took his jacket off him with the same attentiveness.
"Spill it, what's the matter?" the man asked.
Fang Anning smiled and said, "Here's the thing, you see, I'm back to school. I get off school quite early, so I was thinking, I don't board at school, but I also can't come back home so early. So, I want to stay at school in the evenings for self-study."
The man frowned, his gaze upon her grew heavy.
Fang Anning pouted and explained, "I don't want to either, but, you see, I've been out of school for two years. I somewhat don't understand what the teacher says and can't catch up. So, I need to spend a lot of time to re-engage with learning to keep up with the pace of the class."
"Can't you do that at home?"
