At the same time, his vision shifted.

The world around him blurred, and suddenly, he saw them—

Horrific, pained faces of mostly women clung to the goblins' skin with their eyes hollow and their mouths twisted in silent screams.

Blood-red tears streaked their spectral faces as they wailed in agony.

Ethan's breath caught for a fraction of a second before his fingers curled at his sides.

So that's what fuels them…It must have also acted as the reason for their increasing cruelty and the natural inherent madness they carried.

Ethan shuddered slightly as an understanding dawned upon him. The horrifying twisted faces that clung to the goblins' skin were not mere illusions or hallucinations.

They were the last lingering vestiges of hatred and the final, agonized cries of the souls these creatures had raped, tormented, and slaughtered afterward.
