Chapter 24: The Spider's Dance and the Gift of the Wolf
---
The Battle Intensifies
---
The night had fallen heavy over the battlefield, but the battle raged on. Kai's serpents were wreaking havoc among the Beast Tide, but there was more to this battle than just the ferocious onslaught of monsters. Lina, though supported by her Ice Fox Glacia and Yggdrasil tree Sprig, had been struggling to keep the flood of beasts at bay.
In the thick of the chaos, another figure emerged—Selene, the spider beast. Once a quiet presence in the background, Selene now became a terrifying force on the battlefield. The black widow spider beast moved with terrifying grace, her large form darting between enemies, spinning webs to bind the beasts, and using her venomous strikes to paralyze them before they could wreak havoc.
"Master, your sister is still in danger. We must act quickly!" Selene's voice rang in Kai's mind.
"I know, Selene. I'll keep the Beast Tide at bay. You make sure nothing gets past us," Kai responded, his voice resolute. His two serpents, Nyx and Yami, were creating openings, and now it was Selene's turn to take the fight to the enemies up close.
With a sharp motion, Selene spun a massive web between the advancing creatures, trapping the first few beasts in her intricate design. Her venomous strikes immobilized them, paralyzing their movements as she moved like a shadow, faster than the eye could follow.
"Venomous Threads!" Selene called out, sending a flurry of webs toward the incoming waves of beasts, wrapping them up tightly before the venom could fully take hold. The battlefield shifted, the spider's presence making the creatures hesitate, their bodies locked in place as her poison slowly spread through their systems.

The Fenrir Wolf: A Gift for Lina
---
As the Beast Tide slowly began to recede in the wake of the serpents and Selene's deadly intervention, Kai saw the exhaustion etched on his sister's face. She had fought valiantly, but she was only one person in a war that seemed endless. Her beasts, Glacia and Sprig, had done their part, but she needed more to stand a chance in the ongoing battles.
In the aftermath of the battle, with the Beast Tide pushed back temporarily, Kai approached his sister. His heart swelled with pride, but he could see the toll the war had taken on her. It was time to give her a gift—one that would help her push forward in the days to come.
He stepped forward, his cloak fluttering in the wind, as he approached Lina, who was standing near the camp, wiping the blood and sweat from her brow. Her beasts stood with her, both showing signs of fatigue, but ready for whatever came next.
"Kai, you made it," Lina said, her voice a mix of relief and exhaustion. "I didn't expect you to show up here."
Kai smiled, his eyes softening as he looked at her. "You've fought well, Lina. But you need something more if you're going to survive the war ahead." He reached behind him and, with a flourish, brought forth a magnificent creature—a massive wolf with silver fur and glowing eyes.
"This is for you," Kai said softly. "A Fenrir, a wolf of the highest pedigree. He will be your third beast, and together, the three of you will be unstoppable."
Lina blinked, her eyes widening in surprise. She had heard of Fenrir wolves, legendary beasts whose bloodlines were revered for their strength and speed, but she never expected her brother to give her one.
"This... this is amazing," Lina whispered, her voice filled with awe. "But why? Why this?"
Kai placed a hand on her shoulder, his voice firm but caring. "I've seen how strong you are, but you've been facing battles with the Beast Tide without the full support you deserve. This Fenrir wolf will give you the edge you need."
The Fenrir wolf, standing before them, was an imposing creature. Its fur shimmered like silver in the moonlight, and its eyes glowed with a fierce golden light. The wolf was an imposing force of nature, its muscles rippling under its thick fur, ready to leap into action at a moment's notice.
Lina approached cautiously, her hand extending toward the wolf. To her surprise, the creature lowered its head in acknowledgment, allowing her to touch its fur. The bond formed almost instantly, a deep understanding shared between beast and master.
"Welcome to the family, Fenrir," Lina murmured, her voice filled with awe. "What should I name you?"
After a brief pause, Lina smiled softly. "I'll name you Fenris, after the legendary wolf. You'll be my storm on the battlefield."
Kai watched the exchange, a proud smile on his face. His sister had always been strong, but with this new addition to her team, she would be ready to face whatever came next.

Selene's Report
---
As the sun began to rise over the battlefield, the fighting had subsided for the moment. The Beast Tide had been driven back, but Kai knew it was only a temporary victory. His sister, now with Fenris by her side, was more prepared than ever to face the challenges ahead.
"Master," Selene's voice interrupted his thoughts, "the situation is still critical. We have won a battle, but the war is far from over. The Beast Tide will return, and this time, they will come in greater numbers."
Kai nodded, his eyes scanning the horizon. "We'll be ready. For now, we prepare. The Fenrir wolf will help tip the balance in Lina's favor, and we'll continue training."
His gaze turned back to his sister, who was now standing with her new beast. Fenris was at her side, his massive frame standing proudly next to the Ice Fox and Yggdrasil tree.
