The deeper Jaeho and his team ventured into the Obsidian Depths, the darker the dungeon became. The air grew heavier, thick with an oppressive sense of danger that weighed on his shoulders. The flickering light from his torches barely illuminated the stone walls, and the sounds of distant echoes kept his senses on high alert.
"Stay close," Jaeho murmured, his eyes scanning the darkness. Eclipse, Scrap, and Luna remained by his side, their presence a reassuring comfort in the otherwise ominous environment.
Suddenly, the ground beneath their feet rumbled. Jaeho stiffened, and Eclipse's ears perked up, her crimson eyes gleaming in the shadows. The tremors weren't like the ones they'd felt before, where enemies were approaching. This time, it was something larger.
"Ready?" Jaeho asked, his voice calm despite the adrenaline coursing through him.
Eclipse nodded, her shadowy form already blending into the darkness, while Luna's fur bristled with excitement. Scrap scuttled eagerly beside Jaeho, twitching his whiskers, ready to strike. Jaeho, however, wasn't sure what awaited them. The deeper they went, the more unpredictable the dungeon seemed.
Ahead, a faint glow emerged from a crack in the stone. Jaeho's instincts told him to approach with caution. His heart quickened as he reached for his pipe—his preferred weapon—and readied himself for whatever would come through the opening.
As they approached the glowing crack, a low growl sounded from within. Jaeho felt a chill run down his spine. His beasts were alert, eyes narrowed, preparing for what was to come.
The glow intensified, and suddenly, a massive creature appeared from the darkness—a Blackfang Beast, a terrifying predator known for its speed and strength. Its fur shimmered in the dim light, and its yellow eyes glowed with an unnatural hunger.
Before Jaeho could even react, the Blackfang lunged, its fangs glinting dangerously in the darkness. Eclipse, acting on instinct, teleported in front of Jaeho, blocking the attack. The Blackfang's claws scraped against Eclipse's shadowy form, leaving only a faint ripple in the air.
"Scrap, attack!" Jaeho shouted.
Scrap, now larger and faster thanks to the evolving venom he had absorbed, darted forward, sinking his sharp teeth into the creature's leg. The Blackfang roared in pain, but it quickly countered, swinging its massive claws toward Scrap. The rat dodged, just narrowly avoiding a lethal strike.
Luna's howl broke the silence. Lunar Howl exploded in the chamber, boosting Jaeho and his beasts' strength. Eclipse, empowered by the howl, moved faster than Jaeho had ever seen, striking at the Blackfang's underbelly with swift, precise hits.
The creature seemed to recoil, but then it roared louder, its fury only growing.
Jaeho took a deep breath, his mind working through the situation. This wasn't just any battle. The Blackfang Beast was no ordinary dungeon creature. It had a powerful aura that seemed to drain the very life force from the air around it.
He needed to get creative.
"Focus on the legs!" Jaeho shouted, pointing to the creature's exposed joints. He had learned from previous encounters that taking down the limbs of beasts could cripple their ability to fight.
Luna's sharp teeth sunk into the Blackfang's hind leg, while Eclipse and Scrap worked in tandem to strike at its front legs. The beast howled in pain as its movements became sluggish, but it wasn't enough to bring it down.
"Now, Scrap—Venomous Bite!" Jaeho ordered.
Scrap, already in position, injected venom directly into the beast's wound, causing the Blackfang to stagger. The venom didn't kill the creature immediately, but it began to weaken its resistance. Eclipse, ever the opportunist, appeared behind the beast, her form melding into the shadows.
With one final strike, Eclipse used Shadow Step to pierce the Blackfang's spine. The beast let out a final, guttural growl before collapsing, its body going limp.

Jaeho exhaled in relief, wiping the sweat from his forehead. The dungeon was more dangerous than he'd anticipated, but this victory meant they were one step closer to their goal.
"Good job, everyone," Jaeho said, turning to his beasts. They all gathered around him, proud but still on edge. The dungeon wasn't finished yet.
As he knelt to catch his breath, Jaeho noticed something strange. The Blackfang's body began to dissolve into a mist, its essence reforming into a glowing orb. Before Jaeho could make sense of it, the orb shot straight toward him, merging with his chest.
His vision blurred for a moment as the system notification flashed.
[New Beast Tameable: Blackfang Beast.]
[You have received: Blackfang Beast Orb.]
Jaeho stumbled back, trying to make sense of the unexpected turn of events. He'd never heard of a beast's essence being absorbed into a tamer like this. Could it be because he had killed the Blackfang with his own hands? Or was it something to do with his growing abilities?
He opened the Status Window and checked the new information.

"Looks like we have a new recruit," Jaeho muttered, his heart racing with excitement. He hadn't expected the Blackfang to be tameable, let alone so easily absorbed. This was a huge opportunity. Not only would the Blackfang add to his arsenal, but it also had potential to evolve if he could get the right materials.
Suddenly, a voice interrupted his thoughts.
"Did I just see you defeat a Blackfang Beast?"
Jaeho spun around, his eyes narrowing in surprise. He hadn't noticed anyone approaching, but standing in the shadows of the dungeon entrance was a figure he didn't recognize. A woman, with striking silver hair and dark, piercing eyes.
"Who are you?" Jaeho asked cautiously, raising his pipe.
The woman smiled, though it was more of a smirk than a warm greeting.
"My name's Kyra, and I've been watching you," she said. "You're not from around here, are you? Not many tamers can handle a dungeon like this, much less alone."
Jaeho felt a chill run down his spine. He'd made a mistake earlier, not sensing the presence of another. This Kyra wasn't an ordinary adventurer.
"I'll take that as a compliment," Jaeho replied, eyeing her warily. "What do you want?"
Kyra stepped forward, her eyes gleaming with intrigue.
"I want an alliance," she said, her voice low and filled with intent. "I've got my own mission, and I think you're exactly the kind of person who can help me get there."
Jaeho's mind raced. This wasn't just a simple encounter. She could be trouble, or she could be the key to something far bigger than he realized.
But one thing was certain. Jaeho had just made an unlikely ally—or an even more dangerous enemy.
