Mindy put the cigarette she had been chewing back into her clutch. It wasn't for smoking. It was just an act to calm her mind when she felt troubled. The unique leaf scent helped soothe her. Mindy turned away from Ethan, slightly annoyed.
She had hoped he would pretend not to notice. Better yet if they never met again.
"I wanted to pretend I didn't see, but I've become more meddlesome since meeting Ellie."
Ethan shrugged as if he had read Mindy's mind. As expected of a businessman, he was incredibly perceptive. Mindy slumped her shoulders weakly.
"Why did it have to be a cruise? Can't even escape."
"Why would you want to escape? You were quite impressive."
"You're probably the only one who thinks that, Ethan."
"One is enough. I'm the best, after all."
"You seem to be getting even more shameless. Is that another side effect of meeting Ellie?"
"Yes. Heartbreak is truly terrifying, you know."
Mindy let out a small laugh at Ethan's joking manner.
