After firing the shot, Tom confidently blew the smoke from the barrel of his gun. The only problem was that the barrel was too long, making it awkward to blow on. Tom ended up tucking the shotgun under his armpit to do it properly.
From the spectator seats, Shen An's lips twitched. This dumb cat didn't even realize he missed! The bullet had just grazed past Tang San's ear.
Shen An, who had initially thought Tom misfired, suddenly sucked in a sharp breath. With his enhanced vision, he clearly saw the bullet ricochet off the wall.
Bullets can bounce now? What kind of nonsense is this?
For a moment, Shen An felt foolish. As Tom's owner, he should have known better than to doubt the cat's marksmanship. But in this case, he was mistaken.
Even Tom on the battlefield looked confused. It hadn't expected its bullet to bounce either.
When the bullet whizzed past Tang San's ear, he felt his life flash before his eyes. The sharp sound made his heart tremble in fear.
Just as Tang San was about to exhale in relief, he heard flesh being pierced, followed by Xiao Wu's scream.
The bullet had rebounded off the wall - straight toward Tang San's back.
In that split second, Xiao Wu used her Blink skill without hesitation. Tang San felt a soft body press against him.
Then the bullet struck.
Blood bloomed like a grotesque flower.
Tang San's eyes instantly turned bloodshot. He spun around and pulled Xiao Wu into his arms. A gaping hole had been torn through her abdomen, and no matter how hard he pressed, the blood wouldn't stop.
"Xiao Wu... Hang in there! Don't you dare die on me!"
Shen An watched with mild amusement. He felt no sympathy for Xiao Wu's injury.
If they started using weapons first, then they have no right to complain when Tom fights dirty with some good ol' gunplay.
Still, the shotgun's power surprised him. A single shot had seemingly taken Xiao Wu - a Beast Martial Soul Soul Elder - completely out of the fight.
The crossbows had rapid fire, unleashing sixteen bolts at once. But the shotgun packed far more stopping power. Just one shot was enough to incapacitate a Soul Elder. Shen An estimated even a Soul Ancestor would struggle to withstand a direct hit.
"Oscar! Give me a Recovery Sausage, now!" Tang San's voice was hoarse with panic.
Oscar quickly channeled his soul power and handed over the sausage.
Meanwhile, Tai Long - who secretly pined for Xiao Wu - saw his beloved injured and completely lost it. With a roar, he charged at Tom.
"You damn cat! I'll tear you apart!"
Tom glared back angrily. Are these people insane? They started this with weapons, and now want to murder me for fighting back?
The battle stage was large, but Tai Long crossed the distance quickly. His fist clenched, and he swung straight at Tom's head.
His second soul ring flashed - Explosive Might!
Tai Long's eyes gleamed with anticipation. This cat would be reduced to paste.
Tom felt the violent gust from the incoming punch. Its fur stood on end, and it ducked on instinct.
Tai Long stared dumbfounded at his own fist. How did a mere house cat dodge that?
Refusing to believe it, he threw another punch. Missed again.
An uppercut. A hook. A straight. A swing. Nothing landed.
Frustrated, he tried a sweeping kick - only for Tom to yank its own tail and lift into the air.
The audience was stunned.
Tom had enough. It swung its shotgun like a club and smashed Tai Long's head.
Tai Long blinked dizzily. "Huh... Why's everything spinning...?"
Then he face-planted, unconscious.
Tom grinned. Perfect. This guy's body would make an excellent gun rest.
The remaining Shrek members were stunned. A Strength-type Soul Elder, taken down by one hit?!
Dai Mubai cursed. With Tang San distracted, leadership fell to him.
"Everyone, be careful of that weapon! Attack together!"
But it was too late.
Tom settled on Tai Long's back, shotgun ready.
Jing Ling, a Speed-type soul master, moved in erratic patterns, wary of the shotgun.
Tom didn't bother aiming. It just fired.
Jing Ling smirked. "Too slow!" He dodged sideways.
But his eyes widened in horror. The bullet changed direction.
It followed him. He juked right - the bullet curved right. He feinted left - the bullet swerved left.
Shen An's jaw dropped. Is this normal? No. But since it was Tom's bullet, he decided to roll with it.
Tom snapped its fingers. The bullet dipped downward - straight toward Jing Ling's legs.
Jing Ling went flying, tumbling out of bounds while clutching his ruined legs.
Ma Hongjun broke out in cold sweat. What kind of weapon is this?
Unconsciously, his charge slowed.
Dai Mubai, lagging behind him, exploded. "You coward! How are you scared of a cat?"
Ma Hongjun whimpered, "Brother Dai... you're not rushing in either..."
Dai Mubai fell silent.
