Alessandro opened the door with an almost solemn slowness, revealing a room bathed in soft, soothing light. Every detail seemed meticulously thought out: warm beige walls, a light wooden crib placed in the center, and toys neatly arranged on low shelves. The room was imbued with a serene atmosphere, as if it had been designed to offer refuge and tenderness.

Sitting in an armchair near the window, a woman lifted her head as Alessandro entered. Her light chestnut hair framed an open and kind face, and her eyes, filled with warmth, settled on me with a gentleness that left me unsettled.
