Chapter 58 : An Unexpected Visit

Alessandro opened the dining room door, gently guiding me inside. The room was bathed in a soft, warm light, and Teresa was placing a steaming dish at the center of the table. She looked up as we entered, adjusted her apron slightly, and offered a polite but reserved smile.

"Mrs. Valenti," she said respectfully. "Everything is ready. I followed your previous preferences."

I blinked, slightly taken aback. My preferences? I wasn't even sure what that meant anymore.

Alessandro pulled out a chair for me, his gesture marked by a natural gallantry that always unsettled me. "Sit down, Arianna," he said softly but with that gentle firmness that defined him.

Without protest, I sat, watching Teresa as she carefully set plates before us. She seemed so methodical, so precise, as if each action carried a special significance.
