Chapter 62: A Light in the Shadows

The terrace was bathed in an almost surreal calm, disturbed only by the gentle touch of the sea breeze and the faint rustling of the olive tree leaves. Alessandro had left me alone, slipping inside the villa without a word. The stillness around me contrasted sharply with the storm raging in my mind. Alessandro's words, the fragments of memories surfacing—they all seemed to converge toward a truth I wasn't yet ready to face.

I pulled the blanket tighter around my shoulders, seeking refuge from both the cold and the intrusive thoughts. Suddenly, a dull ache shot through my head, sharp but fleeting, like a flash of lightning illuminating the hidden corners of buried memories.

I closed my eyes, a hand to my forehead. The pain intensified, and with it, a blurry image emerged, followed by a voice.
