Chapter 181 - The Naive King of Henselt.

[Chapter Size: 1900 Words.]

Third Person POV

Kaer Morhen.

...

...

"Any news from the north?"

King Henselt, ruler of Kaedwen, sat in his royal chair that afternoon, seeking information about his actions within the kingdom.

In front of him, a group of four knights knelt, while beside the king stood his royal guards, along with his advisors, including a mage.

"We have heard nothing yet from the north, my king. Should we be concerned?" the man spoke to his sovereign.

"Do you believe that the witchers managed to deal with our thirty men?" the king asked with disdain.

"Witchers are non-humans, closer to monsters than anything else..." an advisor spoke from the side.

"Yes... a non-human... just like all those abominations, and the witchers are among those we must get rid of..." the king said.

"And if they manage to kill all our men in the north... in that isolated castle, my king? What should we do then?" asked the knight kneeling before the king.

"If that happens... we must get rid of them once and for all. Despite Sor Edmar var Drakenwald having served the kingdom with honor, our goal is clear... to remove all these non-humans from my lands..." he spoke with disgust.

No one managed to say anything before the king spoke again.

"I had no intention of dealing with the witchers now, but according to my informant, they may have some connection with the monster that all the kingdoms fear—Madara Uchiha." He let these words hang in the air.

"Do you believe we can place any trust in such claims?" the court sorceress asked.

"It doesn't matter... Whether this information is correct or not, we will act against the witchers," the king simply stated, while everyone nodded upon hearing this.

"Certainly, Your Majesty knows what is best for the kingdom. There is no one better to decide or contest this," an advisor spoke.

"Anyway, how are our actions in the west? We have others to deal with," King Henselt asked, as he was orchestrating a plan to exterminate all non-humans in the regions linked by the Pontar, Gwenllech, and Buina rivers.

"Everything is ready for us to act in the coming weeks, my lord, as you have commanded," said a soldier responsible for mobilizing a large group of troops to the area.

"Excellent. After all, we do not only have witchers to deal with in this kingdom, but we will also eliminate all the non-humans concentrated near the rivers. Soon, Kaedwen will no longer be a place for non-humans," he spoke with a tone of hatred, revealing his disdain for all those who were not human.

"I see that you are following the steps of the new religion, Your Majesty—the one that is rising in the kingdom of Redania," another advisor murmured, carefully eyeing the king.

"Of course. I admire the courage of King Vizimir II in supporting this new religion, the Eternal Fire. It will certainly be welcomed in this kingdom as well," he said, accepting that the movement was resurging in the west, on the other side of the continent.

As the day passed, King Henselt continued listening to his men and analyzing the reports regarding the orders he had already given. He was organizing a grand operation in his kingdom, one of the post-war realms that had not been affected by the recent conflicts.

And so, the entire day went by, until he finally went to sleep with his arrogant gaze, as if he had control over everything and everyone beneath him.

However, as soon as he lay down beside his wife, he suddenly felt a cold wind brushing against his face.

He wanted to complain about whoever had left the window open, but the moment he opened his eyes, he realized something terrible.

He was being grabbed by his own clothes, held firmly by a hand behind him, and that was the only thing keeping him from immediately falling.

At first, he was dazed and terrified, demanding to know who was doing this. But before he could say anything more, slaps struck his face, making it clear that this person had no intention of being friendly with him—even though he was a king.

Henselt's arrogant expression quickly turned into pure fear and desperation. He did not want to die there, high above his own castle.

"If you fall, you will die like a tomato splattering all over the ground," murmured the voice that was there, as cold as the wind blowing.

"Wh-who are you...?" he murmured, trying to maintain his composure.

"Someone who, until now, didn't care about you," Madara replied coldly. "But it seems you made a point of becoming my enemy. And that is why I am here... to collect the debt you incurred when you sent those knights to Kaer Morhen."

The king's eyes widened upon hearing that.

"You... you're a witcher?" he asked, caught between rage and fear.

"I wouldn't say that. But I was certainly there, killing your men. Your appointed knight fell like a bird shot from the sky, and I had to deal with your two mages as well. They certainly weren't a challenge. All of them were exterminated easily," the person said. His voice was young, but it carried a tone of authority that sent a shiver down King Henselt's spine.

"What do you want? Do you want to kill me? Are you insane? I am the king of these lands!" he immediately exclaimed.

But the person only laughed, as if finding amusement in that.

"A king who will soon be dead. After all, if you're going to attack us anyway... if you want to kill us... then at the very least, it's worth taking your life along with it. Don't you think?" Madara asked.

"Wait! No, no, don't do this! I'll do anything, just don't kill me!" the king immediately pleaded, clearly not wanting to die.

Madara watched this with mockery. He knew that if the king remained safe, first, he would demand to know how an assassin had entered his room and taken him out of there. Second, he would send men and an army to hunt him down and kill him along with the other witchers. Therefore, Henselt was not trustworthy in the slightest.

Suddenly, Madara pulled him, making him scream as he was thrown backward. The king landed directly on the rooftop, his back slamming against it, feeling a pain no one had ever inflicted upon him before. He rolled, trying to regain his balance, but found himself slipping again due to the sloped terrain.

"Ahhh!" the king screamed desperately, trying to grab onto anything.

However, a knife suddenly flew through the air and pierced his clothes, pinning him to the roof and stopping his fall. Dazed, he looked around, trying to take deep breaths.

His gaze finally returned to the figure gripping him at the edge of the rooftops. If he had been afraid before, now he was utterly desperate. He could see clearly the two glowing red eyes in the darkness, staring at him as if he were an animal about to be slaughtered.

"You... it's you..." the king cried out immediately.

After all, he would never forget those eyes, even if he had never seen them in person. Even though he hadn't been in the war in the south, he would never forget the one everyone was searching for. After seeing the soldier's memories and the sorceress's reports at the meeting of the kings, that unique eye pattern could only belong to one person.

Madara Uchiha.

The most feared man on the continent was right there, staring at him.

"No... it can't be..." was the only thing he could murmur.

"Many things may seem impossible, but let me make one thing very clear."

Madara approached slowly. The terrified king tried to free himself from the knife pinning his clothes, even if it meant falling off the roof. Anything seemed better than facing that demon head-on.

"Help!" he barely had time to cry out before feeling a direct kick to his face.

His nose broke with a sickening crack. Blood splattered everywhere as his vision blurred, his body swaying, ready to faint. However, before he could lose consciousness, a hard slap brought him back to reality.

Madara was now over him, his eyes glowing intensely.

"Well, first, let's understand exactly what happened. After that, we'll see why you were so determined to exterminate Kaer Morhen," Madara said calmly, while his presence seemed to suffocate the king.

His eyes burned like embers in the darkness, piercing deep into Henselt's mind. The king felt a wave of nausea at that moment. He couldn't move. He couldn't resist.

Since childhood, he had been taught to have a powerful resistance to mental attacks, like any other king. But now, in the presence of those eyes, he felt his mind was about to split in half without any real resistance.

Meanwhile, in the prison, Geralt entered, accompanied by Madara's clone. As they moved through the area, they could hear someone banging a baton against the cell bars.

"Be quiet! I'm trying to take a nap here!" a voice murmured from the corridors ahead.

"Go fuck yourself! I haven't gotten any food today, so give me the fucking food!" the prisoner shouted back.

The witcher and the shinobi kept moving forward until they reached the area where the jailer seemed to be, trying to calm down some prisoners who were cursing and insulting him.

Geralt looked at Madara, who simply nodded before picking up a few stones from the ground. The place wasn't well-structured, with loose stones scattered everywhere, and the ceiling was high enough that no one would notice an intruder.

With an agile leap, Madara positioned himself on the ceiling and began walking upside down. From there, he threw the stones with precise movements, knocking down both the guard and the prisoners who had been arguing with the jailer. They all collapsed easily onto the floor.

Madara landed shortly after, next to Geralt, who simply nodded before they proceeded toward one of the cells.

Inside, a bald man sat in a meditative position.

"Coën..." Geralt murmured beside Madara's clone upon seeing him.

Coën opened his eyes, slightly surprised, and looked at them with a raised eyebrow.

"You're here..." he murmured.

"We're here to get you out of this place."

"The king put me here. If you do this, you'll have serious problems with him," Coën commented, his voice calm but tinged with concern.

"I think you're a bit late for that concern," Geralt replied.

Meanwhile, Madara inserted a kunai into the lock, using chakra to amplify the weapon's impact before breaking it. The steel gave way, and the door swung open the next moment.

"Kaedwen was struck by the king's coup, so... let's just say we have to deal with it one way or another," Madara's clone said, appearing relaxed, though fully aware of the gravity of the situation.

Coën remained silent for a moment, despite his surprise and caution, but soon nodded.

"Now let's go. We can discuss this later," Geralt said, as they all prepared to leave the prison in the next moment.
