My palms began to feel greasy as Mia turned the handle of the knob and stepped into the apartment followed by Colin while I stood behind,his frame casting a shadow over me. “I'm back,Em,” Mia said,calling out to Emily. “The surprise I have for you is here,” 


My breath etched in my throat as Emily came out of the room,looking fragile and pale and her hair dripping wet. “Hi!” Emily said,her lips curled into a thin smile as she greeted Colin.

“Where is the surprise?I doubt I would be indeed surprised,” she said,going over to the kitchen.
