Chapter 070: Which Way

Late into the night, everyone had found a spot to lie down and doze off—but Lina Riley was still wide awake. She'd just rolled over for the umpteenth time when The Princess Royal's voice reached her: "Can't sleep?"

Lina hadn't realized the princess was also awake. She'd rushed off earlier and forgotten her sachet, leaving her to guess whether The Princess Royal was similarly worried about nightmares. "Sister, you're not sleeping either?"

They couldn't see each other's faces in the darkness, only the soft timbre of each other's voices. The princess gave a slight laugh. "Indeed. Shall we go for a walk?"

It sounded like a good idea, yet Lina worried about Beatrice Byrd and Ivy Dawson's safety. She hesitated, "Should we rouse them?"

"No need."

Though Beatrice lacked martial prowess, she was hardly someone to be taken lightly. Lina might not fully grasp this, but she trusted the princess's judgment.
