Chapter 098: Putting on an Act

From afar, Lucy Sinclair noticed white lanterns already hanging outside the Marquess of Whitehaven's estate, with servants bustling in and out.

"Hsss…"

Pulling back her sleeve, she saw deep red marks on her wrist from being bound—painful, though relatively minor, considering she'd narrowly escaped with her life. Slowly making her way to the main gate, one sharp-eyed young servant spotted her first. "My lady!"

He used the wrong title, but Lucy didn't bother to correct him. She ignored him and marched straight in.

Barely over the threshold, she found her way blocked. Glancing up, she realized it was her second elder sister. This sister took after their mother: a pair of lovely eyes brimming with seeming gentleness. Yet Lucy knew she was truly the most merciless of them all.
