Chapter 114: Comfort

Waking from her hangover, Lina Riley rubbed her aching forehead. "Ow…"

"Awake?" came a voice. "Here, drink this sobering soup."

Beatrice Byrd handed her a bowl. Once Lina finished, Beatrice nodded in satisfaction. "So, remember what happened yesterday?"

Lina tried, but could only recall bits and pieces. She grabbed Beatrice's sleeve, looking uneasy. "I remember Her Highness showed up. I didn't do anything too outrageous, did I?"

Beatrice had planned to leave after reclaiming the empty bowl, but her curiosity was piqued at Lina's anxious expression. She pretended to heave a long sigh and fixed Lina with a pitying stare.

That prolonged silence made Lina's skin crawl. She worried deeply about her reputation. "What happened? Just tell me!"

Beatrice kept sighing. "You really don't remember?"

She was playing with Lina's nerves, prolonging the suspense. Lina grew frantic. She seized Beatrice's sleeve—and with a ripping sound, the sleeve tore.
