Hunger of the Dead

The next morning came along, and I found myself with a familiar yet terrifying feeling in my stomach.

Hunger.

In the past, this would mean picking up some microwave ramen from the convenience store, but now it meant something far more sinister. Someone had to die. I hadn't properly prepared for this moment; in fact, I had been actively avoiding thinking about it.

That was foolish of me.

I stepped out of my dorm. I looked around at the other kids wandering around the hallways. A visceral thirst for blood came over me at the sight of all of those possible meals. My nails extended instinctively, and I started to drool.

A couple of confused looks locked me back into reality. I straightened my posture and cleared my throat. I would've tried to get through the day hungry, but fortunately some of the older kids decided to pick a fight outside of our dorms.

A smile crossed my face. I'd found my prey. I was too hungry to worry about morals.

"Hey, assholes,"

I approached the two level-two's who were kicking the shit out of the little level-one. Poor kid looked pathetic, sprawled out on the ground getting kicked repeatedly.

"What the hell did you just say?"

One of them broke away from his attack on the level-one and got close to me. He towered over me, standing at around 6'4. Compared to my 5'10 self, he was quite the monster. The other one was equally impressive in build and height.

To me, their large size just heightened my appetite. I licked my lips.

"I said back off. Unless you want to get your asses kicked."

The level two laughed as he grabbed at my level-0 pin.

"Level-zero, huh? And what are you going to do, big man?"

I punched him right in the nuts with my enhanced zombie strength, sending his poor nards into oblivion. After recoiling from the damaged, he limped back to his friend who, to the first guy's dissent, was chuckling a bit, and said,

"Roof. Now. You asked for this, you sick fucker."

I grinned. This was exactly what I wanted. I could take these two if I could use my shock ability without restriction, especially considering its upgrade and the damage I just dealt to one of their nuts.

They pushed me, leading me up to the roof with angry looks on their faces.

Finally, we made it to the roof. No witnesses to watch me kill and eat them, and no cameras to capture the footage. They thought they'd already won, but as soon as the door shut they didn't even have a chance to react before I slashed at the first guy's peroneal tendon. He was still limping from the ball-attack, so he wouldn't be moving any time soon.

I grabbed the second guy's face, and activated my shock ability, frying one of his eyes.

He cried out, and activated his ability. Three yellow spears appeared out of nowhere, the air rippling around them. One of them flew towards my head. It would destroy my brain if it hit me, so I grabbed the first guy who was still gripping his ankle trying to stop the bleeding, and used him as a shield.

The yellow spear spun in his body until it dissipated, destroying the organs of my human shield. The second one looked destroyed, having just killed his own friend, but he knew his life was in danger. He shot the other two spears off, one headed towards my chest and the other my leg.

I decided to freak him out a little, and took the hit dead-on. The first spear pierced my heart, spinning and ripping up my arteries before also dissipating into the air. The second one went right through my leg, leaving a gaping hole. I stood straight up, unflinching.

The adrenaline and hunger masked my pain completely, and instead of screaming, a large, toothy smile opened up across my face. I walked towards the second one who was scrambling to prepare more spears.

As soon as my wounds finished healing, I dashed towards him, ripping out his heart with my claws.

As he faded away I ate his heart whole, his dead eyes frozen in terror.

I ate both bodies in about a half hour. I jumped off the roof, shattering both my legs which healed by the time I managed to get back up. Feeling stronger than ever, I scaled the wall of the dorm and climbed into my room through my window. I would need a good excuse to evade suspicion, but I already had one in mind.
