Chapter 19: A Fatal Match

Linda's POV

Shadows stretched over the walls like silent watchers, and the room seemed chilly. My hands were bound in front of me as I sat on the rough chair. I struggled to control my breathing while my heart raced. Nathan's men were positioned close outside the door, but he had left me alone.

Leaning back, I looked around the room. I had to have a weakness, a clue, or anything else that would help me gain an advantage. I couldn't allow dread to control me even though my head was buzzing with potential outcomes.

From the corridor came the sound of footsteps. Nathan entered with a chilly smile as the door cracked open.

I scowled at him. "Nathan, what do you want?"

With a laugh, he pulled up a chair and took a seat across from me. "Oh, Linda, it has nothing to do with my desires. It's about what you have—well, what Kevin has."

I scowled. "What are you discussing?"
